Edmond received an overwhelming love and welcome after her return to Kentucky soil. Edmond’s performance in the 2023 Athletes Unlimited Volleyball Championship was nothing short of spectacular. She finished the season at the top of the leaderboard with 4,313 points. Apart from that, she holds the distinction of being the only player to be the captain in all five weeks. Edmond led the league with 224 kills and finished with a .300 hitting percentage. In an astonishing display of skills, she surpassed 500 career kills on Sunday while becoming only the third player in AU Volleyball history to record 2,000 stat points in a single season.
Leah Edmond’s Journey of Resilience

Doctors diagnosed her with a torn labrum, a type of shoulder injury, and told her that she would likely need surgery to repair it. However, upon consulting with her doctors in Kentucky, they advised against the surgery due to the large margin of error associated with the procedure.

Instead, they recommended a rigorous rehab program. After this entire suffering, in her third season at Athletes Unlimited, she not only returned to her pre-injury form but surpassed it. Her triumphant campaign culminated in her winning the 2023 Athletes Unlimited Volleyball Championship. She powerfully reminds us what perseverance and a never-give-up attitude can achieve.
