The Kentucky Wildcats faced the Baylor Bears in the second round of their NCAA Playoffs. The 1 December match pitted a dark horse team against a powerhouse. However, the dark horse run of Baylor ended as Kentucky took a big win.

The Kentucky Wildcats didn’t allow the Baylor Bears to gain any traction and put them under intense pressure right from the start. While the Bears tried to fight back, Kentucky proved to be too big of a monster for them, as they lost the second NCAA playoffs round with a clean sweep.

The Kentucky Wildcats put on an incredible show against the Baylor Bears in a home-court game. The official Instagram account of Kentucky Volleyball made a post to celebrate the second big NCAA postseason win of its women’s team. The post carried the caption, “High steppin’ our way to the Sweet 16.”

The Wildcats won the game with scores of 25-18, 25-22, 25-17. While the Baylor Bears seemed to have gained their grip back in the second set, they failed to capitalize on their effort and make a big push. 

By the time the third set arrived, the Bears seemed to have lost the voltage they carried, as they succumbed without crossing even 20 points. The Baylor Bears tried to put up a fight against the Kentucky Wildcats and also matched them in some numbers. However, they fell short in the areas that truly mattered.

Wildcats maintain a high KDA to eliminate the Bears

The KDA is an important indicator of performance in online video games, where KDA translates to Kills, Deaths, and Assists. While the D stands for Digs in volleyball, KDA is a key performance indicator here as well. While Baylor Bears posted identical numbers in terms of blocks and service aces, their NCAA playoffs effort was way behind in kills, digs, and assists.

While the Kentucky Wildcats scored 51 points off kills, the Bears could only manage 34. In terms of digs, Baylor could only respond with 16 digs compared to Kentucky’s 36. Lastly, the Wildcats outclassed the Bears with 49 assists compared to Baylor’s 33, as they won the NCAA playoff match. Will the Kentucky Wildcats overtake the remaining teams in the NCAA with their high KDA ratio as well?
