It was yet another evening of excellence for the Nebraska Huskers volleyball squad. They dominated Maryland in three sets on Wednesday evening. The Huskers have been invincible this season, emerging victorious in every competition they have participated. They are establishing new benchmarks and a straight 20th win in the process.
In contrast, the Maryland Terrapins were unable to discover a method to halt the Huskers powerhouse and lengthened their string of defeats to nine consecutive matches.
Huskers Create History and Dominate Terrapins

The Huskers established a record for the longest winning streak in history. They also equaled the record for the most consecutive sweeps in a season, totaling 18, which matched the achievement of the national champions in 2015. The Huskers controlled the match, triumphing with scores of 25-14, 25-18, and 25-15. In a recent tweet by Nebraska Volleyball, the proud team cheered for the players captioning, “Perfect night in the Bob!” The Huskers ranked first in the nation in hitting efficiency (.349), opponent hitting efficiency (.118), kills per set (15.2), and assists per set (14.2).

The team achieved a.333 hitting percentage, while Maryland managed only a.056 hitting percentage. Four players reached double-digit kills: Lexi Sun (12), Madi Kubik (11), Lauren Stivrins (10), and Kayla Caffey (10). Nicklin Hames contributed 38 assists and nine digs, while Kenzie Knuckles managed 16 digs. Nebraska also delivered a robust performance at the net, registering 10 blocks compared to Maryland’s four. Stivrins and Caffey each recorded four blocks, whereas Sun and Kubik contributed two each. The Huskers exhibited excellent serving, notching six aces with only four errors. Kubik secured three aces, while Sun, Hames, and Riley Zuhn each provided one.

Nebraska Remains Undefeated and Lead the Big Ten Standings
The Huskers emerged victorious in all of their matches in straight sets, except for a couple. They haven’t surrendered a set since September 29, when they overcame Penn State in five sets. Furthermore, they have convincingly triumphed in their past eight encounters, even defeating well-ranked teams such as Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Purdue. Nebraska is currently at the forefront of the Big Ten standings with an impeccable 12-0 record, closely trailed by Wisconsin (11-1) and Purdue (10-2).

The Huskers have already secured a portion of the conference championship and can secure it entirely with a single additional victory or if Wisconsin faces a loss. In addition, the Huskers are in the running for the top overall seed in the NCAA tournament, scheduled to commence on December 2. Nebraska holds the number one position in the AVCA Coaches Poll, receiving unanimous support with all 64 first-place votes. It also ranks second in the RPI standings, just behind Texas. The Huskers boast a remarkable track record, with victories against six top-25 teams and no losses to teams positioned outside the top 50.
