With Penn State now crowned the kings of the NCAA volleyball 2024 season, the transfer portal has opened up. While this may benefit some teams who would want to fill the gaps in their side, others would be victims of some of their best players joining the portal. Recently, Purdue University faced a major grunt after their outside hitter Eva Hudson joined Kentucky. Now, it seems that the latest victim of this is Indiana volleyball.
The team recently lost their star player Ramsey Gary. Ramsey was the libero of the side for the last two years and has earned second-team All-Big-Ten honors while also making the Midwest All-Region team. Thus, the player has clearly shown her worth to the community. But now, it seems that the player is set for a move away from Indiana, as she entered the portal on December 24th. The player then confirmed this with a note to the fans.
In her Instagram post, the libero talked about how she has nothing but respect for the team and thanks them for whatever they have given her. This includes traveling to college close to her home alongside her brother and sharing the dressing room with her teammates. The player then said that her time at Indiana has been special and she will miss them. However, she is also very excited about the new chapter in her career.

The libero said, “Nothing but love for this program and all the amazing people at IU. I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to play close to home, go to school with my brother, and share every moment with these amazing girls. From the successes to the challenges, every second has meant so much. It’s hard to put into words how much the people at Indiana have made these last two years so special. Thank you all, & I will miss you, but I couldn’t be more excited for the new chapter ahead❤️🤍”
Thus, it seems that she has made up her mind and is all set to leave the team. This will leave a definite hole in the side, which they’ll need to fill. After all, the player had incredible stats for the team, with 438 digs in her career and 4.06 per set. Her stats made Gary a critical asset to the side.

Now, they’ll have to match this up with some recruitment activity of their own. However, the team already has some big moves, which might help them not only maintain their strength but also increase it.
Indiana Volleyball plans historic recruitment class
Despite facing a major loss in the tournament with the departure of Ramsey Gary, Indiana volleyball has still a lot to look forward to. Head coach Steve Aird and the program together are all set to bring in the highest-ranked prep recruitment class in the history of the program. The class consists of five players who are all set to join in the summer.

Two outside hitters, Charlotte Vinson and Jaidyn Jager, were the first to be part of this class, after which they were joined by middle blocker Victoria Gray. This adds a brilliant depth to the team, which seemed to have been missing earlier. Indiana also made two late additions in defensive specialist Avery Freeman and Audrey Jackson, who can operate both as an outside hitter and defensive specialist. This class is ranked no. 14 in Prep Dig and is touted to do big things next season.
Talking about the recruitment to Indiana, Steve Aird said, “Our 2025 class has been considered one of the nation’s best for some time and we are incredibly proud to welcome them to IU.” He continued, “They each bring unique skills to the table, but they are all fantastic human beings and great teammates. We want to keep building the program with selfless athletes that care deeply about this university and each other. Our staff has worked incredibly hard to recruit amazing young people and we can’t wait until this group arrives in Bloomington.” Thus, the team is ready to welcome its new players, which could usher in a new and better era for Indiana.
