Nebraska’s volleyball standout Harper Murray needed a lot of help last year. She has probably seen the some of the worst days of her life. It all started when her team made it to the national championship final in 2023, but lost to Texas. “I think the hardest part was seeing them celebrate in the corner of my eye,” Harper had told ESPN. “I refused to look that way because I didn’t want to see it. I was just straight furious and seeing all red.” After that heartbreak, hit her hard was the social media demon.

Harper was targeted on social media, with some people even urging her to kill herself. Harper did hit out on TikTok, saying, “I truly don’t understand how some of you guys can wake up in the morning, open your phone, type something so nasty and rude about somebody, and post it and think that it’s a good idea. Because first of all, if someone said that about your sister, your daughter, your cousin, your best friend, I guarantee you wouldn’t like it.” But the episode took its toll.

She skipped classes and was arrested for DUI in April, last year. She also was caught shoplifting five rings worth $12.99 from the sporting goods store Scheels on May 2, 2024, according to 1011 Now. Harper’s family was worried that she would even try to take her own life at this point, as reported by ESPN. So it was time to head to a psychiatric intervention. With all that help, she is now on the path to recovery. “Over the past couple of months, my main focus has been my mental health and making a dedicated commitment to healing and growing,” she wrote in a statement posted to X last year. Now Harper is in the need of help once again. Just that, this time it has a funny touch to it.

She recently shared a super honest college confession with her fans, and now she’s reaching out to them for help. Harper Murray took to TikTok just a day ago, giving us all a peek into her vibe as she jammed to the song DAMN SHORTY by Chief Keef and Mike WiLL. The video was a fun mirror moment, but the real kicker was the caption: “how i feel after i changing my major for the 5th time (i’ve been in college for almost 2 years).” And, of course, Harper added her own twist in the caption: “This is not an exaggeration i need help.” Feels like we’re all right there with her in this college struggle—major changes and all!

Harper Murray played for Skyline High in Ann Arbor and she was one of the best players in her high school volleyball back in those days. After her high school, she relocated to the University of Nebraska in order to continue with her volleyball passion. Freshman year, she was all about business and law (according to Volleyball.com), but then, as a sophomore, she’s switched gears to sports media and communication. While she looks to be in soup with her academics, on the court she is spewing magic.

She is an All-Big Ten First Team selection this season consecutively and a constant factor in the game. Kills per set was led by her with an average of 3.40, and her hitting efficiency was .257, while she served 39 aces. To add, she averaged 2.43 digs per set and finished the season with 9 double-doubles. As a freshman, she was already earning honors like the AVCA All-America Third Team and Big Ten Freshman of the Year. It’s no surprise she’s racking up the awards. But is she thinking of a change on the court as well?

Huskers bring in their twist for the portal!

the transfer portal is buzzing with activity as the new season kicks off, and while most NCAA athletes are glued to it, Harper and her Nebraska teammates are pretty chill about it. None of them have jumped into the portal, and to keep it light, they even made a fun dig video about it.

Nebraska Volleyball fans have had their hearts broken enough—after missing out on the NCAA title thanks to that brutal Penn State loss, and seeing fan faves like Lexi Rodriguez, Merritt Beason, and Lindsay Krause retire from GBR colors. So when there are rumors about Harper Murray and the NCAA transfer portal, one can imagine the fanbase gets a little uneasy. But Harper? She’s not really about giving a straight answer. Nope, she’s giving it the most hilarious twist possible!

After wrapping up her 2024 season with a bang—scoring 411 kills and 294 digs—it’s no wonder every college would be eager to scoop her up. But Harper? She’s not looking to shake things up just yet. Instead of diving into the drama, she hit up TikTok on January 13, 2025, and dropped a gem: a 5-second video with a voiceover of Kourtney Kardashian’s iconic line, “I just don’t have the energy for this. I am unsubscribing from this drama.” And yep, she slapped on the caption, “*me when the transfer portal opens.” Classic Harper—always keeping it light when things get too heavy!

But, of course, Harper’s fans were sharp-eyed, and some noticed something a bit off. In the video, she was rocking a navy blue sweatshirt with a yellow ‘M’ front and center—yup, a Michigan hoodie. The comments blew up, with fans questioning, “Is that a…. Michigan shirt?” and “Why the h*ll you wearing Michigan stuff 😭😭😭.” Things got heated fast, but Harper, ever the calm one, jumped in with a quick, “I’m from Ann Arbor bro.” And for those who knew the story, the defense came in strong: “Because her dad played football there, her sister plays volleyball there, and she was born and raised there.” So, yeah, it looks like Harper’s keeping it real with Nebraska… for now.
