The Bob Devaney Center might forfeit the fact that Nebraska Huskers have been witnessing the exalted run since the inception of the NCAA Volleyball season this year. The Lincoln-based establishment almost posed as a penitent to the Huskers on that day as the latter might rise in the occasion later to haunt the other programs to wimple in front of it. This Sunday’s Amalie Arena would perfectly resemble that just before the Huskers’ final tussle against the Texas Longhorns.

The bruised and battered Texas Longhorns might ask for a better return in the Amalie Arena after what they faced in 2021. However, there must be a little for Nebraska Huskers to worry about on Sunday. Rather, they would find their irresistible records in grabbing titles. Let’s have a glance at that.

Nebraska Huskers’s record run

Before rising above the feeling of overpowering come Sunday against the Longhorns, Nebraska Huskers would fancy two records to defy the opposition. One is Nebraska’s 33-24 winning record against Texas. Another is the AVCA Coaches Poll’s tilt towards Nebraska. The 108 all-time polls run for the top position has certainly been backed up by the titles Nebraska holds. Only the galloping Stanford can defeat Nebraska’s eleven appearances in the NCAA Women’s Volleyball finals by numbers. The overall top-seeded NCAA biggy wrapped up the Big Ten title outright this season with a dashing 19-1 record

Since 2011, it was the fourth Big Ten title for the Huskers who already bagged overall 35 conference titles. The lion’s share of those titles has come under the regime of coach John Cook. Before the coveted final, the AVCA Coach of the Year claimed to the media in his regular mood, “The epicenter of volleyball is Nebraska”. The Hall of Famer coach also magnified the learning stint of Nebraska Huskers day after day, especially after 2006. In that year, Nebraska had digested only one defeat in its showdown, 33 matches. This year, the program has won that many matches only. But it would be prudent not to meditate on the single defeat as Huskers are one win away from holding the title again.

Reluctances in the camp

After grabbing the Big Ten title this season, coach John Cook outnumbered his team’s performance on that evening against Iowa. “I was actually surprised tonight, I didn’t think our players felt very much pressure. We didn’t play great tonight. Iowa played really well”, he claimed. The legendary coach might have thought about the 2021 occasion where the Wisconsin Badgers pulled off the Huskers from the driving seat.

On that night, Bekka Allick stood out even at the fall of the Huskers to the Badgers. The then-freshman middle blocker tried her best with her expertise. However, she couldn’t find a concerted effect from her teammates in the penultimate 2021 NCAA championship. Now, it is the time for the team to continue the learning spree as John Cook suggested.
