TCU Horned Frogs has been pulled down from its high horse. Days after getting back-to-back wins against the Baylor Bears volleyball team, TCU has been served with a major defeat by the University of Houston Cougars. While a 25-21 loss shouldn’t be too shattering, given TCU’s current form, the win would work as a massive boost to the Cougars’ confidence.

With the Horned Frogs football team making Houston’s Big 12 debut something worth forgetting, the latest result will come as a breath of fresh air for the Cougars. The Cougars came up with their own sweep after TCU’s tremendous display of dominance against the Bears.

The Cougars won the match on November 15 with three straight sets against the Horned Frogs 25-17, 25-22, and 25-21. TCU has had a fairly good run this season with a 15-12 overall record. However, their last two wins against the Top 25 giants, Baylor got TCU’s spirits up like never before. Yet, the Houston Cougars were in no mood for taking prisoners. They’ve been on a winning streak and their momentum proved to be too difficult for the Horned Frogs to overcome.

The Cougars have defeated UCF, Texas Tech, the University of Cincinnati, and the University of Oklahoma over the last few weeks. Understandably, the volleyball team was brimming with positivity, and that showed throughout the match. While the Horned Frogs did manage to snatch some points, these only delayed the inevitable end result of the match. The Horned Frogs’ Lily Nicholson did manage to get a staggering 30 assists, but that wasn’t enough to pull the entire team through the ordeal of defeat.

TCU, despite its high ranking, hasn’t had much to celebrate this year. The Cougars added more to the misery by putting up a dominant display. The University of Houston claimed more kills and fewer errors on all three sets. Abbie Jackson, Kenna Sauer, and Nena Mbonu all performed exquisitely to make sure the Cougars did the job right.

TCU basked in short-lived glory

TCU began the season with three consecutive losses but had a great spell during August and September. Last week they managed to brush off Baylor twice in a row. Last Friday, the Horned Frogs defeated the Bears with 25-16, 26-24, 21-25, and 29-27 set wins. However, things were not so easy the next day and the Bears forged ahead with wins in the first two sets.
