The Huskers fandom is getting sandwiched between 2 nations and 1 App. Well, that’s what’s happening ever since the U.S. Supreme Court hinted that TikTok could be banned by January 19. After all, with data-sharing concerns taking center stage and national security in the spotlight, fans might have less than a week to soak up all the behind-the-scenes content Harper Murray’s been serving Nebraska Nation. But even with the clock ticking, Murray and the Huskers have delivered some surprises for their loyal followers.
Huskers fans have been all about those candid GBR moments on TikTok. Whether it’s from Harper Murray’s page or the one Coach John Cook says she created for him. “They grabbed my phone, and then TikTok happened,” Cook admitted. “But hey, if they like it, I like it”, says Cook. Apparently, the people really like it, as Cook’s account has racked up over 95.9K followers and 2 million likes. And now, just in time for the looming deadline, a third page has entered the chat with a surprise for fans before TikTok might say goodbye.
On January 11, 2025, Nebraska Volleyball’s official TikTok account hopped onto the latest trend. It was none other than the “raise your ya ya ya” trend, which kicked off with the video of Broadway actor and vocal coach Jodie Langel teaching a student how to avoid voice cracks. The Huskers’ video starts with that iconic clip for the first two seconds, then seamlessly transitions into cinematic shots of Nebraska volleyball players dominating the court—pulling off iconic kills and smashing the ball with authority at their home turf, the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln.

Well, the last video that was posted from the Huskers account was on December 24, an emotional snippet of Lexi. Thus, hopping onto viral trends isn’t Huskers Nation’s vibe — it’s Harper Murray’s. And the team made sure to give credit where it was due. They captioned the TikTok video, “Raise your ya ya ya for Harper. She made me make this.” Murray even dropped into the comment section to give her validation and this internet banter is taking the fans by storm.
After all, TikTok was the fans’ ultimate source of Nebraska Volleyball’s BTS! Be it their friendship, their pranks on Coach John Cook, or just a little fun glimpse into the camaraderie the team shared. Thus, when the news circulated that this might all be snatched away soon, Nebraska Volleyball player Maisie Boesiger remarked, “So tiktok is getting banned? Here come my drafts.” She continued with, “Guys, I’m crying.” And even pled for help, “Someone stop this from happening, please.”
Well, the Huskers fans get you, Maisie Boesiger! But currently, there’s no time for gloom as they are thrilled about this TikTok surprise ft. Harper Murray.
Huskers fans believe Harper Murray is teaching Nebraska Volleyball well
One of the fans chimed in with, “Harper just has superpowers on TT 🤣😂 with Coach Cooks & now delivering this edit.” Be it John Cook’s game day dance with Harper over a trendy music clip or his hilarious flex to a TikTok calling him “aging like fine wine,” fans just can’t get over the content Harper Murray makes Coach Cook put out there.
In fact, Coach Cook’s videos create waves every time he uploads. So much so, that a journalist once asked him in a post-match conference, “Coach, before you go celebrate with your team, will there be a Big Ten championship TikTok from you and Harper?” Well, that’s the level of the Huskers’ TikTok fandom! And the Coach’s response? A chuckle and a promise, explaining his phone was in the locker room but teasing that something would be up soon.
“This is fire🔥” wrote another user. Well, there have been more such fiery moments before, but they’ve come through John Cook’s TikTok account. Remember when he dressed up in a white Nebraska jumpsuit and black shades, joining Harper Murray to show off an OOTD flex? Well, that was surely fire too! And even the time when Cook donned the Big 10 championships cap. And flexed their win as the champions in a leather jacket and pure swag?

But yes, this edit comes from the Huskers Nations and thus, fans are loving the official account’s adaptation of Cook and Harper Murray’s style. “Nebraska wins for this edit,” hailed another fan. A fourth chimed in to call this a well-calculated move saying, “Marketing team on point.” Well, yes, whenever there’s another related to the Huskers on TikTok, it gains that viewership number.

If we just speak of Coach John Cook, his first viral TikTok in September alone hit 248k views! No wonder he also agreed. “I’m getting a heck of a lot of views. … Must be a lot of people watching TikTok, not having much to do!” But amid all the fun, fans couldn’t help but feel a tinge of sadness. They wrote, “Hey can’t use Lexi and Merrit takes anymore 😭”. Well, yes, because Lexi Rodriguez and Merrit Beason were both Nebraska Volleyball seniors who have not exited the team. For 2025, Lexi has turned pro with LOVB Omaha while Merrit Beason has joined the Atlanta Vibe for the Pro Volleyball Federation.
But even in their absence, the Huskers do have Harper Murray, who will carry that torch. But will TikTok remain functioning till then? Let us know what you think and are hoping for!
