Harper Murray really has a way of popping up in every sports scene like she’s got a VIP pass to all the action. But before we get to her latest out-of-the-blue cameo, it is worth discussing the women’s basketball team that stomped through the SEC Tournament like it was a casual warm-up. Coach Dawn Staley expected this year to be the most challenging, but her team had other plans. The Gamecocks continued their reign through the SEC by dominating Texas 64-45 and making it clear that no one in this conference could challenge them.
Chloe Kitts had her best game of the night with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Tessa Johnson and Sania Feagin ensured that South Carolina remained dominant. And if you blinked? You probably missed that ruthless second-quarter takeover, where the Gamecocks outscored their opponents 19-2 and never looked back. Texas tried, but South Carolina’s defense turned their game into a puzzle with missing pieces.
But, let’s take the scoreboard out of the picture for a while—because the excitement witnessed was not about the Gamecocks’ victory. Nope, all eyes landed on Harper Murray, swooping in with superhero energy to rescue Bree Hall from what can only be described as a top-tier social media cry for help.

Harper Murray lends help to Bree Hall!
Bree Hall had the internet in stitches on March 10 after she took to TikTok and blessed us all with an absolute comedy gold moment from the game. In the clip, she straight-up mistook the basketball for a volleyball and smacked it like she was setting up a perfect assist—except instead of a teammate, the ball went soaring into the crowd. The reaction? Pure chaos. Players tried (and failed) to keep their laughter in check, hands flying to their mouths as they struggled to process what they just witnessed.

Bree, fully enjoying herself, wrote the caption, “@harpermurray yaa so like how’s my form. i already got the knee pads girl,” and for an extra spice, she wrote, “did a middle game code switch to volleyball. lowkey was crashing out.” And, of course, she had to tag the one and only Harper Murray—because if there’s anyone who could rate her impromptu volleyball form, it’s the queen of the court herself.

And Harper? Ever the MVP, wasted no time jumping in with a response that had everyone cracking up even more with a simple yet iconic, “i’ll help you,” because honestly, Bree might need to take a refresher course before switching sides mid-game again. Bree, knowing she was deep, replied with relief, “oh thank god. lmaooo.” And just like that, we got a crossover moment that no one saw coming but everyone wanted. Basketball, volleyball, comedy—Bree and Harper are out here giving all three in one. And guess what? Harper and her volleyball team have been praised by a basketball team too previously!
From the Hoops to the Spikes!
In December, when Harper Murray and her Nebraska volleyball team were preparing for the NCAA semifinal, Nebraska basketball team’s head coach Amy Williams was asked about the electrifying doubleheader—basketball kicking things off with a win and Husker volleyball chasing their Final Four dreams. She didn’t hold back her excitement. “Oh we are just ecstatic about it. And just so happy for that team, and we know how hard they work,” she said.
She said the relation between both teams was strong and she noted that, “The players that are seniors this year kind of came in and roomed with several of the girls that were seniors on our team. They’ve been four years together at Nebraska. They’ve seen each other go through highs and lows.” When the basketball game wrapped up, it was all gas, no brakes—the girls were “racing to get their clothes changed so they could sprint over to Devaney” and watch their volleyball teammates clinch that Final Four berth.

Amy could not help but appreciate what Nebraska volleyball has developed into, “It’s just amazing to me. I mean, when you really stop to think about the amount of success that they’ve had, and that’s something that we really feel like that success breeds success, and it just rubs off on everyone.” She knew that the volleyball team’s determination and greatness was contagious.
“I know our players want to be able to be better. Just, you know, to try to keep up with the standard that they are setting for our athletic department.” That’s Nebraska for you—one team’s success isn’t just celebrated; it’s fuel for every other squad to push harder, aim higher, and chase greatness together. And while Harper and her team ultimately went down in the semifinals to Penn State, one thing’s for sure—she’s got her fingerprints all over the crossover of sports.
