In his younger days as the Nebraska volleyball head coach, John Cook wore suits to important games. That completely changed in recent years as Coach Cook sported polos to t-shirts even during the NCAA finals. Yet, that will change soon, as coach Dani Busboom Kelly has made quite a name for sporting elegant blazers during crucial games.
Right now, what could be more significant to Coach Kelly than making her debut as the Huskers’ head coach on April 26? So naturally, everyone from Nebraska stars like Harper Murray to the press has asked what she plans to wear. After all, everyone remembers the Blazer she wore in December 2024 during the NCAA finals. So what’s the 39-year-old’s answer?
Unfortunately, Kelly doesn’t seem to have big plans for the game this weekend. Dani Busboom Kelly told reporters the same thing she said to Harper Murry when she asked about her outfit. “Harper asked me that. I was like, I’m going to go with what fits at this point,” Kelly said during the press conference. Now, you could be wondering why the coach’s blazers wouldn’t fit her.

Well, that’s because the Nebraska Huskers head coach is expecting another child, and it’ll be a while before she can pick a blazer out of her collection again. “So no fun pregnancy blazers on Saturday,” DBK jokingly told the reporters. Meanwhile, Murray also touched on her coach’s outfit topic during her segment of the press conference.
The outsider hitter revealed that everyone’s been talking about the outfit lately. “We’ve been making jokes with her about what her outfit’s going to be because (7:13) she’s been stressing about that for a while,” said Murray. However, the outside hitter also added that this time, most fans won’t even notice what DBK chooses to wear on game night.
Harper Murray’s forecast on Dani Busboom Kelly’s debut
Harper Murray explained that every Nebraska Husker fan is waiting with bated breath to see Dani Busboom Kelly in action. John Cook’s sudden retirement took the fans by surprise. Yet, they were happy to know that the entire Nebraska administration, including Cook, had chosen former Husker and then-Louisville head coach DBK to replace the 68-year-old.

Despite being so sudden, the team had many difficulties transitioning from training under Cook to a new head coach. “I feel like it’s been a great transition and pretty smooth, and everybody’s been excited and open,” Kelly said as per Hurrdat Sports. Murray told reporters that she can’t wait to “show everyone what we’ve been working on and how much we’ve improved.”
