Is Campbell Flynn the next big thing in college volleyball, or just another overhyped recruit?

Nebraska Volleyball has been on a roll, and the 2025 season is already looking legendary! Just a few days ago, the Huskers locked in five dazzling new recruits who are already making the headlines. One standout is Campbell Flynn, the first to commit to the Huskers for 2025, who clinched Michigan’s highest volleyball honor: Michigan’s 2024 Miss Volleyball. But wait—there’s more magic in the air.

Keri Leimbach, another fresh face, didn’t just bring her talent; she brought history! She soared past the 2,000 digs milestone for Lincoln Lutheran, etching her name in her school’s legacy. That same day, Nebraska’s very own Lexi Rodriguez rewrote NU’s history books, climbing to the second-highest digs record. A day full of records, accolades, and celebrations—it’s Husker heaven!

The story only gets sweeter. On college volleyball signing day, Keri Leimbach added another chapter to Lincoln Lutheran’s history. She didn’t just sign with Nebraska; she became their first-ever player to join the reigning Big Ten champions. A school that’s sent seven players to NCAA Division I in its 30-year history, this was a monumental moment. Lutheran’s volleyball coach couldn’t help but beam with pride, calling Leimbach’s journey a first for the program. And now, Nebraska Volleyball’s newest recruits and seasoned Huskers alike have earned a moment of shining recognition!

Nebraska Volleyball is on a roll

In a recent report shared by AVCA.org, the AVCA unveiled its 19th annual AVCA Girls High School All-America Teams, and out of an impressive 1,762 nominations submitted via AVCA and MaxPreps, only 121 exceptional players earned a coveted spot on the All-America Teams, with another 120 receiving Honorable Mentions. And that’s not all—over 1,700 senior athletes were recognized with the AVCA Best and Brightest Award, while 719 elite talents claimed their place on the AVCA All-Region teams. For the first time, underclassmen could throw their hats in the ring, thanks to the AVCA opening up its nomination process. Plus, the introduction of a brand-new stats portal made submitting MaxPreps stats optional, streamlining the road to glory.

Let’s talk about Sigler for a moment—she’s the player who initially didn’t leave Nebraska’s head coach, John Cook, too impressed. Yet, with time, her grit and undeniable talent flipped the script, leaving even the seasoned coach in awe of her potential. Now, as these vibrant and fearless newcomers take center stage, the anticipation for their Husker debut in 2025 is electric!

The new Huskers and their debut

A few days ago, after a fierce match between Nebraska Volleyball and the Gophers, head coach John Cook found himself facing a familiar set of questions during the press conference. As expected, the seasoned 68-year-old coach was asked about the selection process for the five recruits. Without missing a beat, Cook, ever the confident leader, responded quickly to the inquiry about his thoughts on the fresh talent joining the team.

“Studs,” he declared, a simple yet powerful affirmation of his faith in these new players. “I’m really excited about that group, and they’re those guys who are gonna come in and compete; I can tell you that right now.” It was clear—this was no ordinary class; they were the future of Nebraska Volleyball, and Cook couldn’t wait to see them in action.

As the press conference continued, there was another question, one that would surely stir some curiosity among the journalists. Who among these recruits was already shining in the early spotlight? Coach Cook’s response was enthusiastic as he singled out Teraya Sigler. Though only one of five new names, Sigler’s presence had already captured attention. Cook didn’t hesitate to explain his eagerness to sign her. First, he highlighted her impressive performance with Arizona, showcasing her technical prowess. “She’s a great passer, and she’s a great competitor,” Cook noted, underscoring her skills. But there was more.

Cook shared that Teraya’s decision to join the Huskers was personal—she had always felt a connection to the team. As a fellow Arizonan, like senior Lauren Stivrins, the bond had already been there. Cook reminisced about his initial reservations a couple of years ago, but after witnessing her standout performance when Arizona clinched the title, he was convinced. “She put on a show; it’s pretty impressive,” he said. With those words, the veil of curiosity surrounding Sigler’s signing was lifted. It’s clear now—2025 is shaping up to be an unforgettable season for the Huskers, and Coach Cook is ready to lead his recruits into glory.
