Izzy Schauer shares that, after a season-ending injury in her junior year, she found her identity outside of volleyball and how it transformed her into a better player. Now, as a senior, Izzy continues to use the word resilient as her life motto. #NCAAWVB x @BelmontVB”

Schauer took her hardship very lightly; she went on a pensive journey to explore her hidden talents. The athlete’s path to rediscover herself took her towards a very positive mental state. Her euphoric outlook on life was influenced by the doctors and mostly by her friends and teammates. She said in the video that the doctors assured her that she would be able to get back to her game soon. The A-1 athlete gained back self belief because of how her compatriots treated her, and she seemed elated to share this slice of life part of her self-discovery tryst with the fans.

Resilience: The winning mindset in volleyball and life

The word “resilience” became a very crucial part of her life. She revealed that one of her friends said how resilient her journey was from the beginning and how far she had come. The player made the word “resilience” her life motto; interestingly, this changed her viewpoint towards sports as well as her life.?She shared her thoughts about not being a part of the game by saying, “I might not be back for the senior night, and that was a really scary thought.” The athlete not only overcame her injury but also came back as a more powerful athlete, both mentally and physically by overcoming her demons and her intrusive thoughts.
