SL Benfica Women’s Vollеyball team is keeping its eyes set on the next season. Apart from having numerous national championship titles, now the team has been adding some of the best volleyball players to the team’s current roster. Similarly, the team has added one of the strong players from Sun Devil’s volleyball team for the next NCAA volleyball tournament.
Arizona State volleyball sensation Shannon Shields will now play for the SL Benfica Women’s Volleyball team in a southern European country, Portugal. Taking her talents to the international domains, she is looking forward to broadening her horizon.
Shannon Shields signs with Benfica for 2024 Volleyball Season

The Arizona State Sun Devils volleyball team announced Shannon’s new deal with Benfica through its official X account. The team congratulated the 23-year-old volleyball player for her new innings with European powerhouse Benfica. The recent post’s caption reads ‘’She’s going pro 😈 Congratulations to Shannon on signing to continue playing at the professional level in Portugal! #ForksUp’’ Originally hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, Shannon Shields had a remarkable collegiate career that ended on a high note.

Shannon Shields played incredibly well and led the triumph for the Arizona State University Sun Devils team in the NCAA Regional Semifinal match-up. In this match, she notched 38 assists along with four kills. Apart from that, the Xavier College Prep High School player earned four digs and two blocks in the semifinal match and led the team to the historic end. SL Benfica has an equally dazzling record in the volleyball arena.

Shannon Shields to begin her new chapter soon
The SL Benfica Women’s Volleyball team has already a strong winning record in history. Including the Portuguese Volleyball Super Cup, the Portuguese Volleyball Cup, and the Portuguese Volleyball League, the team has earned many national championships. Shannon’s addition is expected to further the legacy of the team, given her lineup of accolades.

This year itself, she was AVCA All-Region and Pac-12 honorable mention. Since Regina Stahl in 1986, Shannon became the first Sun Devil setter to achieve the All-American title. Since the most flourishing volleyball team in Portugal, Benfica added Shannon’s name to its 2024 roster, supporters have been eagerly waiting to watch Shannon’s performance as a pro player in the next season.
