After a stellar night for the Trojans, Ally Batenhorst and Tuaniga once again proved why they made the PVF draft. The USC seniors stood out as the Women of Troy swept the Iowa Hawkeyes 3-0. Mia Tuaniga hit her ninth double-double for the season with 10 digs and 35 assists, many of which helped Batenhorst and the Trojan hitters to dismantle the Hawkeyes defense.

The 22-year-old led the team’s kill stats with 16 and a hit percentage of .325. Ally Batenhorst led USC to close the night with help from standouts such as Favor Anyanwu, Adonia Faumuina, and others. USC won three straight sets, posting 25-16, 25-23, and 25-16 on the scoreboard. Hence, the Trojans chose Senior Night as the perfect time to shower the 22-year-old gifts.

Batenhorst took to TikTok to show off her “senior night haul.” An incredibly excited Ally Batenhorst started by showing her new purse. “Okay. I got a purse. It’s red! And I got a blanket,” said the Nebraska native. However, these were just the tip of the iceberg. “I got lots of cute little cards. Then I got body butter… Got a water bottle. My favorite candy… Peppermint bars, (and) a candle,” said the hitter as she held up each gift in front of the camera.

While none of the gifts that her teammates gave the future Omaha Supernovas hitter were particularly expensive, they were heartfelt. Instead of pooling together their money for some expensive branded products, Batenhorst’s teammates got things she would actually use. And the fact that the USC fourth-year loved each other was apparent from the look of delight on her face.

Finally, she showed off the final few on the long list of little gifts. “Aww, I got a cute little notebook! It’s so cute, so aesthetic,” added Ally Batenhorst as he pulled out a large pack of and, lastly, a pack of eye masks. However, the fact that they seemed to be “reusable,” baffled the volleyball star. However, her teammates weren’t the only ones happy for Ally Batenhorst.

The former Nebraska Husker is going back home

While Mia Tuaniga will join Batenhorst’s former Nebraska Huskers teammate Merritt Beason at the Atlanta Vibe, the Nebraska native will be traveling back to her hometown, Omaha. After getting picked by the Supernovas in Round 2 of the 2024 PFV draft, Batenhorst’s family members were delighted. “My entire family’s from there, and I just have so many memories there…” she told Ana Bellinghausen.

Ally Batenhorst also said, “My phone was blowing up afterward,” as family members kept calling the 22-year-old to congratulate her. The draft pick also came as a surprise for the senior at USC she had no idea that the sport she loved would once again take her to Nebraska. After leaving NU for USC, Batenhorst didn’t even imagine she would get to continue her sporting career as a professional.
