Nebraska Huskers look unstoppable in the NCAA right now. The team seems to be defeating everyone and anyone in front of them as if they’re nothing. They’ve amassed 25 victories in a row, making them the most in-form side in the NCAA. But the incredible feats don’t stop there, as the Huskers are currently on an incredible home run, winning 41 games in a row at the Devaney Center.
This is a significant achievement, marking their longest winning streak since their 88-game run from 2004 to 2009. Given their current form, the team seems poised to potentially break that record. However, this dominance has sparked curiosity about what makes the team so strong this year. While they reached the NCAA final last season, ultimately losing to the Texas Longhorns 3-0, this year, they appear to have the depth and resilience needed to go all the way. According to Lexi Rodriguez, this is all down to the team’s change in mentality after last season.
Talking to NCAA Championships, Nebraska Huskers’ Lexi Rodriguez revealed the reason behind the team’s incredible success this season. The libero believed that the side, which is almost similar to last year’s, is all trying to improve themselves because of the defeat at the finals last season. They want to take that extra step and win the title this year.

She said, “I think the competitive edge that this group has—I mean, I said it last year—and we pretty much have the same core team. And then having a loss in the national championship, I think, can fire anyone up. So I think coming into this year, a year of experience under our belt, I think we really just have so much drive and so much of an edge to get back to where we were and hopefully finish the job off.”
However, Lexi maintained that the goal and the passion have remained the same since the last season, and there haven’t been many changes to the team. But the fact that Huskers made the final last year has heavily increased expectations, and people are expecting a title this year.
Thus, the players are now more concentrated and driven than ever to defeat the team that they’re up against. “I feel like when we come into games with that mentality of just facing what’s ahead of us at that moment, I think we’re pretty close, unstoppable,” she said. This is why the Huskers have been so good this season, as they have been concentrating solely on how to beat the opponent against them at that moment. It has helped them get an incredible record of 28-1 this season.

The Nebraska Huskers are set to face the Penn State Nittany Lions this Friday in what promises to be a blockbuster match. The Huskers will aim to extend their winning streak to 26 games and secure their second consecutive Big Ten title. However, the challenge won’t be an easy one. While Nebraska has conquered every other team in the conference, the Nittany Lions stand as the only squad yet to be defeated by them this season and remain contenders for the conference championship. Despite this, the Huskers will enter as clear favorites, buoyed by their remarkable double sweep of the Wisconsin Badgers.

But volleyball rarely takes history into account. Penn State is possibly the only team in the division right now capable of challenging the Huskers. This is evident from their highly efficient passing and defensive statistics. Nebraska cannot afford to approach the game lightly; otherwise, they risk significant trouble, as the Nittany Lions will undoubtedly give their all in pursuit of a victory. Hopefully, we are in for a fantastic game.
