Like every other sport, volleyball has an off-season, and college volleyball has quite a long one. However, players like Ally Batenhorst, who just graduated from university, find themselves in a unique situation. Unlike those who have left the sport behind in college, those like Batenhorst and Lexi Rodriguez are gearing up to get back on the court.
However, this time, Batenhorst won’t be wearing the colors of the University of Southern California or Nebraska. Instead, the 22-year-old will be making her pro volleyball debut along with fellow former Huskers for the Omaha Supernovas. Getting drafted by the defending PVF champions was an exciting moment, but the outside hitter also made an honest confession about the rapid transition.

Ally Batenhorst isn’t one to easily feel overwhelmed
As the former Husker’s pro debut on January 10th nears, the volleyball icon gave a personal opinion amidst prepping for the season’s first game. “When you just finished college volleyball & and already have a professional game this week,” Batenhorst wrote in the caption of her latest TikTok video. “No off-season,” the 6’4″ hitter added for good measure.
However, this may not have been a complaint. While the caption may give fans the idea that she’s overwhelmed, the 22-year-old’s demeanor and the song she chose painted a different picture. Ally Batenhorst appeared in the clip wearing the #14 Omaha Supernovas jersey and grooved to SZA’s 30 For 30 (with Kendrick Lamar). She also lip-synced to a specific part of the song.

“That’s the way I like it,” said the Seven Lakes High School, singing along with the lyrics. So while the schedule may be hectic, with no off-seasons to ease the transition between college and pro volleyball, the outside hitter may not want to change anything. This is even more evident in some of the most recent content featuring the volleyball star from Texas.

The volleyball icon is greeting the challenge with a smile
Ally Batenhorst appears to be enjoying the process, despite the busy schedule filled with photoshoots and media day preparation on top of practice. Batenhorst has already posted about how she and the defending champions have recently been practicing twice a day. However, behind-the-scenes clips from the media day show how Batenhorst and the others are enjoying it.
A clip by the Nebraska-based Hail Varsity showed the five former Nebraska Huskers having a fun time posing for photographs on media day. “Former Huskers Kaitlyn Hord, Ally Batenhost, Lindsay Krause, and Kayla Caffey are all reunited to play pro volleyball in Omaha,” they wrote in the caption. The clip showed the four teammates posing for group photos.

However, another clip by Hurrdat Sports captured Ally Batenhorst struggling to keep it together while posing for more photos. Meanwhile, Channel 8 KLKN-TV also posted an exclusive clip with the caption: “Here is your first look at the PVF defending champs! Tune in at 5, 6, and 10 to hear from former Huskers Ally Batenhorst and Lindsay Krause.”
Finally, the outside hitter herself gave a message to the fans before her pro debut while appearing on the Go Big Redcast. “Continue to get out there, continue supporting women’s sports. Not only volleyball, basketball is growing a lot too. Female athletes work super hard… Just continue to give them that platform and opportunities they deserve,” she said to the fans who are ready to support, Batenhorst on her pro volleyball journey.
