Ally Batenhorst’s volleyball homecoming has been great so far. The former Nebraska Husker played for NU for three years before moving to USC as a senior. While she made history as the first Trojan to earn the BIG10 Player of the Week honor, the Omaha Supernovas have reunited her with former Nebraska teammates, such as Lindsay Krause, as a rookie pro. Batenhorst and the other newcomers’ arrival also proved lucky, as the Supernovas have found fresh broadcasting support.

On January 2, Ally Batenhorst’s team announced their exciting broadcasting partnership with Nebraska Public Media. The official PVF statement explained that the exclusive partnership will bring “six Supernovas home matches to television screens across the state.” Husker’s Illustrated’s Lincoln Arneal posted about the detailed broadcast schedule on X.

“Nebraska Public Media will broadcast six Omaha Supernovas home matches, including opening night. 1/10 vs Atlanta, 7 p.m. 1/19 vs San Diego, 3 p.m. 2/16 vs San Diego, 3 p.m. 3/28 vs Vegas, 7 p.m. 3/30 vs Grand Rapids, 3 p.m. 4/5 vs Orlando, 6 p.m.,” the Volleyball State Podcast host posted on X. Broadcasters Larry Punteney and Nebraska’s own Nancy Metcalf will handle the play-by-play commentary of the six matches.

Yet, what about those who won’t be able to catch the broadcast on television? Ally Batenhorst’s team has come up with a solution. “For those who live outside Nebraska, the match can be viewed live on the PVF’s YouTube channel,” read the statement. However, this isn’t the only partnership the Omaha Supernovas announced.

“The Supernovas are excited to announce Walnut Media USA as its flagship radio partner, with multiple @NewsChannelNE radio stations joining as affiliates for the Supernovas Radio Network in 2025!” they posted in December 2024. And while the team has been busy securing partnerships, the players have been busy at practice.

Former USC senior Ally Batenhorst was one of the multiple high-profile players that Omaha signed during the PVF draft last year. In a statement to the press, she said, “I’m beyond excited to be drafted and sign with the Supernovas. It’s such a blessing to be able to play professionally in the state near my family, and I can’t wait to play in front of the amazing Nebraska fans again.” While Batenhorst was among the first of the new crop of college volleyball icons to join the team, other players from top NCAA teams followed suit. Ally Batenhorst reunited with former Nebraska Huskers teammate Lindsay Krause when she joined the Supernovas.

Other newcomers include Creighton’s star player, Kendra Wait. Boasting 1283 career assists, the setter is among the newest additions to the team, alongside Valeria Vazquez Gomez. The Supernovas had picked the Pitt volleyball outside hitter during the draft, but she officially signed with the Supernova in late December. Needless to say, the new players are excited to make their debut and are putting in the work. But that’s not all.

Omaha also made a big move, signing Ohio State hitter Emily Londot, a second-round draft pick who wrapped up an impressive five-year career with the Buckeyes. Over that time, she accumulated nearly 2,300 career kills, solidifying her place as one of the standout players in college volleyball.

On December 29, Ally Batenhorst posted about the extra effort she and her teammates have been putting in before the season officially kicks off. “We’re excited just been working hard,” the former Trojan shared on TikTok. “POV it’s our second practice of the day,” the outside hitter also added in the closed caption of the clip. So with broadcast duties taken care of and the players giving it their all in practice, all that’s left is for the season to start.
