“We’re just going to reflect our years in college,” said Ally Batenhorst about her one-year stay at the USC. She had shocked a lot of people when she left the Nebraska Huskers for USC this year. The player was regarded as one of the finest talents of the college and the team looked like they were very close to finally winning an NCAA title. Many also spoke about how USC isn’t that strong either, which limited Ally’s chances of getting hands on the trophy. These doubters were proven right as USC bowed out of the NCAA tournament in the second right after getting swept by defending champions the Texas Longhorns.

The Ally Batenhorst-led side could find no answer to the team and ended up losing the game with a scoreline of 26-24, 25-20, 25-22. Unfortunately, this brought an end to Ally’s career in college unceremoniously without a trophy coming her way. However, when one chapter in life gets closed, another opens up automatically, giving way to a new opportunity. The player is now all set to play volleyball professionally.

Ally Batenhorst will now be representing the Omaha Supernovas in the new league, Pro Volleyball Federation. She was selected by the team after giving her name in the draft. The team belongs to Nebraska itself and would thus be like an emotional homecoming for the player. She spoke about this in the press release. “I’m beyond excited to be drafted and sign with the Supernovas,” she said as reported by starherald.com.

“It’s such a blessing to be able to play professionally in the state near my family, and I can’t wait to play in front of the amazing Nebraska fans again.” It will be a special moment for the fans who have seen her grow as a person and a player to return to where she belongs. After all, one year in California won’t erase the lifelong memories she created in the city. Another fun fact is that she will be joining a lot of players who were former Huskers on the team.

This includes Kayla Caffey, who spent a year at the college between 2020 and 2021, transferring from Missouri. Eventually, she would leave the team again next year, ending her NCAA career with the Longhorns instead. Thus, while the player hasn’t shared the locker room with Ally Batenhorst before, she’ll certainly do so this season in Omaha.

Another Huskers graduate the team has is Briana Holman. The middle blocker spent her last two college seasons there. Thus, there is no doubt that Ally won’t feel out of place in the team with so many Nebraska members there. It’ll be interesting to see how she’ll be received by the fans during her return to the city. But before speculating about the future let’s dive into why and when Ally left Nebraska.

When Ally Batenhorst left Nebraska for USC

Ally Batenhorst shocked the whole NCAA after she announced her departure from the Nebraska Huskers to join the USC Trojans. The player was the crown jewel of the team and had shown her worth in numerous games. But this didn’t stop her from taking the drastic decision of changing teams in her final year. The player did so because she was thinking about her future after leaving college.

Despite the Trojans’ volleyball team not being as good as the Huskers, it still offered Ally Batenhorst the attraction of living in California. The state opened up many opportunities for her to explore in the future. Ally was a media student, and there’s no better place than California for this degree. This is why, despite sharing a beautiful bond with Huskers, she decided to join USC. Now that the player has decided that her future lies in professional volleyball, she will return to her home and show the fans why she was rated so highly.
