Ally Batenhorst is back home in Omaha. After a year of playing with the Trojans, the outside hitter joined the Omaha Supernovas. However, just the day after landing in Omaha, Batenhorst is already having a fun time with her new pro volleyball teammates. The Supernova players decided to welcome their newest member in keeping with the holiday spirit.
The 22-year-old appeared on Supernovas’ player Kayla Caffey’s Instagram handle barely a day after arriving in Omaha. Caffey shot the video inside her or one of her teammate’s kitchens, where the players gathered to hang out and take part in the viral trend. What trend you ask? The Omaha Supernovas, inducing Ally Batenhorst played the viral Christmas-themed candle blowout game.
Why the standard game is engaging and competitive in itself, trying to blow out as many candles while saying ‘Merry Christmas’ puts a hilarious twist on the party game. The two clips that the former Texas Longhorns alum posted shocked just how hilarious it can get, as every attempt made the entire room burst out with laughter. However, the ever-competitive Batenhorst impressed her peers.

After a moment’s wind-up, the outside hitter shouted ‘Merry Christmas’ at the row of candles, initially putting out eleven of them. While some recovered, the USC alum still managed to put out until the eighth candle, although the seventh one remained lit. While the Texas native didn’t get the highest score, she did far better than the likes of middle blocker Kaitlyn Hord. In her first attempt, Hord struggled to put out even a single candle.

Ally Batenhorst has returned to her roots in more ways than one
After joining USC as a senior, the former Nebraska Huskers appeared in the Professional Volleyball Federation Draft. However, little did the 22-year-old know that she would end up back on another Nebraska team. The outside hitter was delighted when the 2024 PVF champion chose her as the fifteenth pick. Ally Batenhorst connections with Nebraska run deep.
“Ninety-five percent of my family is from Nebraska, so that played a role in my decision,” said the volleyball star. “I’m so excited and just ready to get back to Omaha, back to Nebraska,” said Ally Batenhorst. So the outside hitter is excited to perform in front of her family and friends in Omaha. Yet, that’s not all, as the Supernova have multiple players from the BIG10 Player of the Week’s former team.

The college volleyball star will share the court with former Huskers Briana Holman and the woman who uploaded the hilarious Christmas challenge, Kayla Caffey. Holman played her final two years (2016 & 17) of college volleyball with the Nebraska Huskers. Meanwhile, Kayla Caffey, who also donned the Huskers jersey between 2020 and 2021, left just as Ally Batenhorst had joined.
So it may be safe to assume that being a former Husker will also help Ally Batenhorst form a bond with the duo. However, Batenhorst will get some more time to settle down before practice goes into full swing after the holiday season. Yet, what did you think of the hilarious candle blowout contest?
