The Nebraska Huskers have performed incredibly well in this NCAA season. Coming off an agonizing final defeat against the Texas Longhorns last season, they seemed to have arrived full-pumped up, ready to take the title home. Now, they are very close to their goal as they face Penn State in the semi-finals of the competition. A lot of credit for their strong position today has to go to libero Lexi Rodriguez.
The player has shown incredible ability in the arena, acting as a defensive stalwart for the side. Lexi has climbed to the second spot in the most digs made by a Nebraska player list, reinforcing her importance. While she has been great throughout her four-year stint here, this season, her form has been out of this world. She has been showing up incredibly in all Nebraska Huskers games and making a point to show the whole NCAA that she’s the best libero around. This has earned Lexi Rodriguez the huge honor of becoming only the third player representing the Huskers to become an All-American in all four seasons. It is a record, which is incredible and would go straight to the history books. Lexi was thus asked her reaction after achieving this.

Talking at the press conference ahead of the Nebraska Huskers game against Penn State, Lexi Rodriguez was asked about her feelings toward her latest All-American honor. The libero said that the achievement was really great considering the fact that coach John Cook always tells the players to compete for major individual honors.
“I think it’s just really cool. I mean, it’s something that coaches challenge everyone to come in and be their best and try and be an All-American.” However, she did acknowledge that without her team’s immense trust in her abilities, she wouldn’t have been able to achieve such a big honor. Lexi Rodriguez also believed that the support she has been given by the coaching staff also played a very major role in her getting the award.
“Ultimately, I just think it’s really cool that everyone kind of believed that I could do it, and my coach has always believed in me and my teammates did, and I mean, they were just always so supportive of me, so I owe it all to them and for all that they’ve done to help me get to where I am today,” said Lexi. Thus, she believed that it was the whole team who should be credited for her achievement and not just her exclusively. This shows the incredible team spirit among the Nebraska players. They would be hoping that this spirit carries them to the title.
Lexi Rodriguez talked about the title-hunting mentality of the Huskers
Right now, the Nebraska Huskers are only two games away from finally getting hands in the NCAA title. They have reached this position, showing incredible form throughout the season. The reason for this is apparently a shift to their mentality post last season. This was revealed by Lexi Rodriguez before the start of the NCAA championship.

She had claimed that their defeat in the finals to the Texas Longhorns had galvanized the side to lock in and take it one step further this season. Talking to the NCAA Championships, Lexi said, “I think the competitive edge that this group has—I mean, I said it last year—and we pretty much have the same core team. And then having a loss in the national championship, I think, can fire anyone up. So I think coming into this year, a year of experience under our belt, I think we really just have so much drive and so much of an edge to get back to where we were and hopefully finish the job off.”

Thus, fans can imagine the team’s thinking going into the semi-finals. Lexi Rodriguez and co. cannot afford a defeat after coming so close to the title as their performance this season warrants a title. This will definitely pump up the whole team against Penn State and could possibly bring them their desired result. Regardless of the outcome, Nebraska fans would be hoping that their team leave it all on the arena, giving their everything to get one step closer to the title.
