The Winter Olympics 2022 wasn’t a pleasant experience for Vincent Zhou. It was his second Olympics, however; he didn’t get to perform. After reaching China, Zhou tested positive for Covid and could not take part in the individual events. He was a Gold Medal prospect for the US team and everyone was highly disappointed after this decision.
Vincent Zhou is now preparing to put his skates back on and represent the US at the Figure Skating World Championships. But this is not easy for Vincent after what happened with him at the Olympics.

But the star figure skater is looking to win a medal for himself at the Championships. Notably, this might be Zhou’s last competition.
Vincent Zhou looking forward to World Championships post-Olympic trauma
Before he was isolated, Vincent Zhou helped his team win the Silver at the Team event. However, the champion figure skater could not participate in any of the individual events. Moreover, he was the only US athlete across all sports who was isolated. All of this made it a horrific experience.

“Coming off of the Olympics has been a really challenging time for me,” he said. “I would say one of the most challenging times of my whole life.”
The Beijing Winter Olympics was the second Olympics for the young figure skater. Little did he know, he wouldn’t get to participate, even in one of the events he trained so hard for.
Now that Zhou is going into the World Championships, there is a chance that this will be the last competition for his career. This is because Vincent will join back Brown University this spring. Zhou is not sure if he will be able to balance his skating with his studies.
Therefore, a lot is at stake for him as he prepares for the World Championships. The Championships will kick off from March 21 and end on March 27.
Is this the end of Zhou’s Olympic dream?
At 17 years and 3 months, Vincent Zhou joined the US Figure Skating Team as its youngest member. He had an Olympic dream burning in his eyes. Notably, he is the only figure skater from the team to get a better score than Nathan Chen at the Skate America in October.

After placing 6th at Pyeongchang, Beijing was supposed to be Vincent’s chance at the Gold Medal. He even took a break from Brown University to focus on his skating career.
But after the Olympic incident, Zhou is disheartened and not yet over it. There is a cloud of doubt looming over his figure skating career right now.

Vincent Zhou began preparing for this World Championship appearance from the time he was isolated. He only took a day off after he returned to the US. The 21-year-old figure skater is going to give it his all this time.
