Confusion about Megan Rapinoe regarding soccer

During an interview with Yahoo! Sports, Rapinoe elaborated on her thoughts about soccer. She pointed out how she has double thoughts regarding her game. First, she said, “Because I don’t need to play.” Then Megan described the internal struggle that she had experienced.

She stated, “I can do other things. I have a lot of other opportunities. Is [playing soccer] something that I actually want to choose? Or am I just kinda in the hamster wheel and don’t want to get off?” Maybe that was the pressure that left her feeling heavy.

Despite the difficulties and obstacles, Rapinoe has encountered, she remained completely focused on her goal. Apart from her gameplay tactics, her personality is a constant talking point on the field. For example, once Megan’s celebration pose was captured on the camera after winning against France. From time to time, Rapinoe has proved that she is worthy of a legend’s crown.

Rapinoe takes a stand for her teammate

The biggest example of Rapinoe taking a stand for her teammate, was seen during Alex Morgan’s tea-sipping gesture controversy. This happened during the semifinal of the FIFA women’s world cup. Their US team defeated England with a great score of 2-1. After which, Morgan made a gesture to mock England fans. But the moment caused Alex to face backlash, but Rapinoe was with her.

Rapinoe gave a statement in which she said, “I mean, it’s like, we’re at the World Cup. What do you want us to do? This is the biggest stage, the biggest moment. I don’t think anyone truly believes that we disrespect the game or we disrespect our opponent. We have the utmost respect for England and every team that we’ve faced and every team that we will face, forever and ever. That’s just part of the DNA of the squad.” Not just this, Rapinoe has also stood up for the pay equity issue between USWNT and USMNT, gender discrimination, and police brutality.
