“Don’t Care if I’m Famous”: Megan Rapinoe’s Fiance, Sue Bird, and Her Family Don’t Shy Away From Giving Her a Brutal Reality Check

In the interview, Rapinoe talks about surrounding herself with other superstar athletes as it helps her to voice her opinions with no judgments. She said, “Oh, gosh. I do think I was born confident. Also, I almost didn’t grow up in regular society: I’ve always been around all these other superconfident, very successful female athletes, and we allow ourselves space to be however we are.”

Similarly, she has played with other USWNT legends like Carli Lloyd, Alex Morgan, Hope Solo, Lauren Holiday, and many more. She won trophies with these women and paved the way for younger USWNT stars to adopt the same winning mentality. She continued, “I’ve been very lucky to be on incredible teams that win, which gives you positive feelings.”

Alas, she credits her mother, her fiance Sue Bird, and other influential family members in her life. Not afraid to say the truth to her, Bird and her parents play a critical role in her life. She continued, “And I get honest feedback from people I really, really love: my mom; my sister; my partner, Sue; and my teammates, who don’t care if I’m famous and give it to me real.”

Surrounding yourself with positivity

Navigating your way from superstardom to living an ordinary life is not easy. Rapinoe does that perfectly. Despite involving in various other ventures apart from soccer, Rapinoe’s confidence stands apart for all the right reasons.
