“We Would Have Done It a Year Ago”- Sue Bird Reveals the Biggest Hurdle in Her Marriage With Megan Rapinoe

Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird are famous as the ‘power couple’ in the world of sports. Both are tremendously successful in each of their fields. Even at the age of 36 and 41 respectively, the two continue to perform at the highest level.

Back in 2020, the couple got engaged and there has been just one question since then – when are they getting married? Well, most of us will be disappointed to know that there is still some time before the two finally say the words, “I do.”

Sue Bird opens up on the reason for the delay in marriage

Whenever they’re seen in an interview, people always ask about when they will get married. While the two have generally managed to avoid giving a proper answer, Bird finally opened up.
During an interview, Bird was asked when she and Rapinoe will be getting married, to which she replied, “It’s more Megan.”

“We’re on Megan’s schedule. My schedule is open in the offseason. I got time,” said Bird. She also said that they are waiting to see what Megan’s soccer future holds. “The soccer schedule is a nightmare. They literally play all year,” added Sue.

Bird also mentioned that if she had to guess a year, it would be after the 2023 Soccer World cup. It is not up to them but on the schedule. Sue added that if it was up to them, they would have gotten married in 2021.

The theme for their wedding

Although it is still far away, the theme for the wedding seems set. During an interview, Bird revealed the theme for their grand wedding. She said that they were just talking one day, and it seemed to them that ‘stars aligning’ was the perfect theme for their wedding. She also admitted to toying with the idea of a wedding in Mexico.

Sue further added that they talked about what they wanted their wedding attire to be. She said that they want their guests to come as themselves more than anything else. She thinks that it is really important for Megan and her in their own lives, so they want the same for their guests as well.
