Irishman Conor McGregor is an icon of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The Notorious, known for his theatrics, anti-hero image, and amazing ability to sell a fight, has been the poster boy of the UFC for years now. In a way, through his showbiz skills, he helped UFC to become a multi-billion dollar business. Throughout his UFC career, McGregor has been part of some iconic fights that include his UFC 178 fight with Dustin Poirier, UFC 189 Chad Mendes fight, UFC 202 Nate Diaz II fight, UFC 194 Jose Aldo Jr. fight, and countless more.

However, his one fight in particular made waves like no other. Never before were fans so distinctively divided into two fan bases as the Conor McGregor vs Khabib Nurmagomedov bout. Nurmagomedov defeated the UFC’s poster boy by making him tap out and soon retired after a few more fights. Known for his intense training regimen, the Russian was constantly seen pushing his body to the limit and one of his intense training videos has now resurfaced, which shows his passion for his fitness.

When Khabib Nurmagomedov stunned fans with his swimming

Renowned for his epic rivalry with Conor McGregor, Khabib’s dedication to his craft remains unwavering. It is through his dedication to his fitness that he never lost a UFC fight in his career with a record of 29-0. In an old video that has now resurfaced, the retired MMA fighter from Dagestan could be seen swimming upstream against a strong current in a freezing river with no shirt on. The original video was posted on Instagram back in 2019 by his friend and ally, King Farruh. Reports indicated that the video was shot in the Kizilyurt region of Dagestan in the Sulak River, which flows down from the mountains to embrace the Caspian Sea.

What does Khabib Nurmagomedov do now?

After a career of glory in the UFC as a fighter, Khabib walked away from the Octagon in 2020. However, he could not stay away from the ring for a lot of time. After hanging up his fighting gloves, the fighter from Dagestan became a successful MMA coach. The Eagle was the coach of both Islam Makhachev and Usman Nurmagomedov when he led both fighters to world championships in 2022. However, earlier this year after a successful coaching stint, Khabib hinted in an Instagram post that he is taking a step back from coaching to spend more family time. It remains to be seen whether The Eagle will ever return to the MMA or has left the sport for good.

Whatever he does in the future, his rivalry and fight with Conor McGregor are still remembered by UFC fans to this day. While Khabib spends time with his family, McGregor constantly thinks about a rematch with Khabib and publicly calls out the Russian for a fight every now and then.
