In his autobiography, Never Grow Up, Chan documented every important detail of his life. He archived the series of several events right from his birth. Likewise, Chan started off the book by jotting down various incidents that occurred during and after his birth. He mentioned that right after he came into this world, everyone was shocked by seeing Chan?s gigantic persona as an infant.?

Based on Chan?s revelations, Jackie weighed twelve pounds as a newborn, which made everyone including the doctors startled. Elaborating on the incident, Chan wrote, ?I emerged from my mother?s belly, weighing in at twelve pounds. The doctors and my parents were stunned?.?

Chan further penned, ?My huge size was even reported in the local newspaper under the headline ?Giant Baby??. Clearly, the Drunken Master was destined to make it big right from the first day of his life.

Chan?s parents named him ?Cannonball?

As per the logs of Chan?s book, Jackie?s parents even named him ?Cannonball?, because of his giant stature as an infant. Not only his parents but also close acquaintances wished Chan a great life full of fame. ?A twelve-pound baby! This kid might end up doing something spectacular?, recalled Chan.
