Martial art legend Bruce Lee?s demise was an unexpected incident. Lee was only 32 when he left the world on 20 July 1973. More than his sobbing fans, Lee?s demise was unimaginably painful for his family, especially his wife, Linda Lee Cadwell, who during his funeral, was inconsolable.

Lee?s biography, Bruce Lee: A Life by Mathew Polly described the master?s saddening funeral at the Kowloon Funeral Parlour on 24 August that year. It described Linda?s miserable condition, whilst mourning her dear husband?s death.?

Bruce Lee?s funeral had a large gathering?

Linda had met Bruce Lee during her university days. Eventually, the couple had fallen in love and decided to marry in 1964. Sadly, her marriage came to an end with Lee?s demise after nine years.?When she stood beside her husband?s casket, she looked on the verge of collapsing to the ground. Her hands trembled when she tried to cover her face bursting into tears. Later, she described her feelings to her friends, ?It was a frightful time.?

As per Lee?s biography by Mathew Polly, the master?s funeral happened with great dignity. Celebrities from Hollywood and the Hong Kong film industry visited to pay their last respect. More so, the gathering involved a Chinese band that sang a traditional funeral song, which sounded like ?Auld Lang Syne.?

Bruce Lee was placed in a HK$40,000 bronze casket. The top half of the coffin was opened whereas Lee?s body was protected with a glass covering. Linda had dressed her husband in the blue Chinese outfit from Enter The Dragon, one of his favorites. When the casket was brought into the room, his friends and family struggled to take a glance at Lee for the last time. Nevertheless, the reporters jostled in the room to click pictures of the casket. Moreover, Lee?s students also attended his farewell, one of whom talked about his feelings, at length.

Bruce Lee’s student cried like a baby at his funeral

Race and ethnicity never mattered to Bruce Lee. His main motive was to teach martial arts irrespective of a person’s background and appearance. One of his closest students, Jesse Glover, wanted to learn martial arts, but no one taught him since he was African-American.

However, when he turned to Lee, he immediately took Glover as his student. While learning martial arts under Lee, he grew very close to him. At the time of Lee?s demise, Glover recalled in his biography,??I was unable to conceal the emotions that surged to the surface?and I broke down and cried like a baby?. Indeed, Bruce Lee left a great impact on people?s lives and will always be remembered for his teachings.?
