5’8 Tall Conor McGregor Once Left Out-of-Shape 6’9 Strongman Giant Hafthor Bjornsson Breathless in a Duel

Conor McGregor is not only famous for his domination inside the Pentagon, but the Irishman has also made himself known with his vocal nature. He once made it to the limelight, because of his grappling session with the former strongman Hafthor Bjornsson.

A couple of years back, the Mountain and the Notorious were seen in a video, taking on each other. However, forthwith their fighting session, the video of them went viral.

In 2015, The Game of Thornes fame, Hawthorn Bjornsson engaged in a grappling session with the Irish MMA artist, Conor McGregor. The video was widely watched and ultimately became viral. The taping starts with the Irish and the Icelandic taking their stance opposite each other. Then, they chased one another around the mat. 

The Mountain seemed to have the upper hand over the Irish, because of his giant stature and he easily contended with the Notorious. Thor even said in an interview, “We grappled for like two minutes then it was finished. The whole video you see online is basically everything we did that day”. However, the video was shot for merely entertainment purposes, as both the athletes are just peddling friendly scuffles with each other.

Interestingly, the Strongman was seen wearing jeans during the fight. At one point, they even high-fived each other. Although indulging in MMA is not the Mountain’s forte, he did a great job maneuvering the MMA legend himself. Elaborating on the incident, the Mountain disclosed, “I was just training for strongman and was in no shape at all for grappling or doing anything like that”.

Hafthor’s interest in UFC MMA

Hafthor is often seen challenging McGregor over several YouTube videos and interviews. In one podcast, Thor even said, “Bring me shorts and put us in a cage and I’ll fight him again”. Although UFC is not the metier for the strongman, his physical prowess and colossus physique tell it otherwise. The Mountain was even seen taking up a fight with his rivals. For instance, Thor had a sparring match with his competitor, Eddie Hall earlier this year.

The Game of Thrones star hadn’t only earned widespread recognition because of his physical prowess in lifting heavy weights but also because of his flair in giving a good fighting challenge to his competitors.
