In its truest sense, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is a dreamer, who has proved that there are no limitations in sports, except for the ones that athletes set for themselves. The Jamaican track and field sprinter is one of the most incredible athletes the world has ever seen. During her two-decade-long amazing career, she not only achieved success for herself but also helped in defining Jamaican athletics at the International level.

People asked Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce to retire after the Rio Olympics

In 2016, just after the Rio Olympics, Shelly and her husband announced they were preparing to welcome a baby into their lives. What that meant for her professional career was that she would not defend her title at the World Championship of 2017 and the world speculated that the legend was done with her sprinting journey.

Speaking about the same, Shelly said, ?There were articles and people saying, ‘Oh, you should retire. You have achieved a lot already. Maybe it?s time to just pack it up.’ Almost as if motherhood somehow diminishes your capabilities or makes you obsolete. But for the first time in my life, I think I was patient.?

She further added, ?After having my son, I had good meets and I had very bad meets. It doesn?t matter what happens on the track, because when I get off, there?s somebody that?s depending on me. I had a little boy at home that loved me, regardless.?
