Noah Lyles is a name unforgettable in the track and field sphere. Over the years, he has shined bright, owning numerous accolades in the field. In August this year, the World Champion was decorated with 3 gold medals; in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m becoming the first man since Usain Bolt to do so. However, as he runs through these titles, Noah has been aware of the influence he holds.

The 6-time World Champion has often been vocal about voicing his opinions. He has frequently stood up for his sport and shown professionalism. Today, with recent news in the athletics field stirring up, Noah has stood up once again to question the list of the rising star nominees released by the World Athletics.

On the 2nd of November, World Athletics shared a post announcing the three finalists for the 2023 Men?s Rising Star Award. In response to the post, Noah Lyles posed a question regarding the names excluded. “Quick question, what constitutes as a rising star? Because I?m shocked to see Tebogo is not on this list. Silver in the 100 Bronze in the 200 Broke 2 African records (one of them previously held by Franky Fredricks),”?he wrote in reply to the post.

?The list included Roshawn Clarke, Erriyon Knighton, and Emmanuel Wanyonyi. While the names hold a recognizable ring in the industry, Letsile Tebogo, the 20-year-old Bostawana sprinter has been steadily rising in the field. The youngster marked his remarkable presence in the industry in 2021 at World Athletics Relays, Poland. Ever since, Tebogo has only grown to turn the heads including that of Noah Lyle.

Tebogo treads the way ahead

Though Tobogo stepped into his career back in 2021 at at World Athletics Relays, he attained a feather a month later at the World Under-20 Championships; winning the 100 meters and slipping to a second in 200. The pattern of the wins was carried forward as he headed to the championships in 2022. The same year, Tebogo rose to the peak to become the first man from Botswana to break the 10-second barrier with 9.96 which he further continued to surpass.

Tebogo persisted with his marveling streak as he took the ground in the 2023 World Athletics Championships. A silver in 100 meters and a bronze in 200 was a feat worthy of applause in the field. The stance further extends knowing he stands entitled to being the 200m 2022 African champion; the youngest winner of the title in the history of the competition. Following that, the youngster currently holds the three fastest junior times in history and Olympics.com tags him as ‘the fastest young 100m runner in history.’ With his exceptional rate of rise in the industry, Tebogo is expected to be a tough contender at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
