Sha’Carri Richardson concluded her 2023 season on a great note. From clinching multiple victories in the 100m category at the 2023 Diamond League legs to bagging the 100m world title at the 2023 World Athletics Championships, the sprinting icon has covered it all. Hence, as she shined bright on the tracks, she received the 2023 Jackie Joyner-Kersee Female Athlete of the Year. Interestingly, she credits the major chunk of her success to her coach Dennis Mitchell.

First, the Dallas ISD changed the moniker of the Texan track to Richardson’s name, and then, she was honored with USATF award. Richardson indeed has the best year so far. However, owing the brownie points of having the best year, Richardson took a moment to express her gratitude towards the person who made it possible – her coach, Dennis Mitchell, who won the 2023 USATF Nike Coach of the Year.

The reigning 100m World Champion, won a remarkable feat giving her admirers yet another progress to be proud of. The LSU alum won the 2023 Jackie Joyner-Kersee Female Athlete of the Year, which was announced by the USATF on the 16th of November 2023. Not just her, even her coach won a prestigious title from USATF.

She shared a post on her Instagram story and expressed her elation as Mitchell won the Nike coach of the year award. Her coach Dennis Mitchell won the USATF Nike Coach of the Year Award and Richardson’s happiness was succinctly visible. The caption in the story read, “That’s My Coachhhh!!”

This coach-athlete duo made the track and field community proud of their accomplishment. They will be presented this award on the 2nd of December 2023 on the day of USTAF Night of Legends which will be held in Orlando, Florida.

The end of this season has been a big roller coaster ride for the 23-year-old. From the highest recognitions to not making the cut in certain categories, she saw it all.

The roller coaster ride of the Fastest woman on Earth this season

Sha’carri Richardson is at the pinnacle of her vocation with her stellar skills and extraordinary achievements. She has clinched multiple victories and has also faced some setbacks this year. Attaining her first win at the 2023 Doha Diamond League then at the 2023 Zurich Diamond League, Sha’Carri turned heads with her achievements. Another highlight of her career is the dominance she portrayed at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

With this, on the 10th of November 2023, she received the honor of her life. The track at John Kincaide Stadium in South Dallas is now called the Sha’carri Richardson track after the votes by the Dallas ISD board of trustees. With this, this day will also be known as Sha’carri Richardson’s Day in Dallas.

However, after this, the reigning 100m world champion who was one of the eleven nominees for the World Athlete of the Year was unfortunately not among the finalists. After this turn of events, she again found something to be grateful and proud of after winning the title of Athlete of the Year by the USATF. This journey is no less than a roller coaster ride for the athlete.
