A man who has still been receiving a lot of praise for his performances in 2021 is Fred Kerley. Deemed as one of the best, Kerley has his sight set on Olympic triumph.

He also has his eyes on Herb McKenley’s record. In 1951, the Jamaican athlete won the bronze medal in the 100m, 200m, and 400m events at the Pan American Games.

Ever since his silver medal win in the Tokyo Olympics, Kerley has been hungry for more success. His current mission is to break Usain Bolt’s record in the 100m and the 200m events. He has been working hard on his technique and seems like a man on a mission.

Earlier this year, Kerley posted a tweet saying, “records will be broken”, and it certainly seems like he fancies himself to become the best short-distance runner ever.

In a recent tweet by Fred that read, “Y’all ain’t seen nothing yet,” Dr. Boyce commented on his predictions for Fred’s finishing times in each of the three events. “9.76, 19.65, 42.99 What you think?” read the comment. Fred confidently replied by saying that the times were too slow. By saying this, he is implying that he will be much faster than this.

Not too long ago, Fred dropped to the 100m and the 200m races from his original 400m event. He has since defeated the likes of Justin Gatlin and Andre De Grasse.

Fred is the man to beat

In the recent USATF Golden Games, Kerley beat his rival Michael Norman in the 200m event to set the athletic world abuzz again. Fred’s hard work to improve his running skills and other techniques has been showing, and showing well.

With a current personal best of 9.84seconds in the 100m event, he must look to beat Tyson Gay and Yohan Blake. The two racers have a personal best of 9.69seconds. And the next on the list would be the ‘Fastest Man on Earth’, Usain Bolt.

Not only that, but he is also looking to better Herb McKenley’s astonishing record. The Jamaican became the first person ever to win a medal in three sprinting events at the same games.

Fred is already well on his way to achieving this goal. He accompanies two other athletes (Michael Norman and Wayde van Niekerk) to achieve record times in sub 10 in 100, sub 20 in 200, and sub 44 in 400-meters.

Fred Kerley will achieve the ‘Legend’ status if he can win three medals in three different races at the Olympics. Only time will tell if this is a pipe dream or something more.
