Track and field has given the world several thrilling moments. Yet there’s only one name many still remember: Usain Bolt. During the world’s fastest man’s reign, he kept everyone on their toes. The 8x Olympic gold medalist left the track and field circuit bedazzled every time he ran. In fact, the sprinting phenom has never lost a single event he ever contested (albeit a few when he debuted on the world’s grandest stage). The magnitude of his dominance still remains unmatched.
But even though the 38-year-old obliterated world records on the track, it was never about winning for him. It was more about setting a new definition for fast, and we watched him build that legacy until he hung his running shoes up for good. Yet, even though he’s stayed away from the tracks, he isn’t done. You can take the athlete out of the sport. However, you cannot take the sport out of the athlete. What is the sprinter up to now?

Even though the Olympian retired back in 2017, he surprised fans by showing off his athletic prowess. Before you get excited, he isn’t gearing up to grace the tracks again. On October 10, Usain Bolt shared a sneak peek from a recent PUMA shoot with fans on his Instagram. He effortlessly throws an object in an open garbage bin, the force toppling it over. However, it’s hard to miss his aim, which is quite good. A crew member looks on with his mouth agape as the legendary sprinter shouts out, “Let’s go!”
The 38-year-old first partnered with Puma back when he was a teenager and continues to be one of the brand ambassadors. There are a few stills of him wearing the merchandise in the fun video he posted. So, what inspired him to try his hand at shooting hoops? We will let the Olympian answer that for you. “I watch a lot of Curry, you know what I mean?” However, this isn’t the only connection he has with the NBA star. When the Warriors locked horns with the Phoenix Suns, Steph Curry’s incredible performance caught the sprinter’s eye.

After their 113-112 win, Usain Bolt couldn’t help but give the 4x NBA Champion a shoutout. He acknowledged Curry as a game-winner and called it a great win. Even though the Olympian has always been an avid basketball fan, there’s another thing that would give him a great advantage. You guessed it right. His towering physique. When a crew member asked him how he got so tall, the sprinter gave credit where credit is due: “Probably my dad, man. He’s 6’3; I’m 6’5. He did a great job,” he admitted in jest. While there is no official height requirement to play professionally, it definitely helps. Nonetheless, once the video dropped, fans couldn’t help but be over the moon.

Could Usain Bolt's basketball skills rival his track dominance, or is it just a fun hobby?

The track and field community has an unusual request from the sprinter
It’s no secret that fans have been enthralled by the sprint legend every time he stepped on the track. Even though they have been reeling to watch him return to competition since he retired. However, now that they know how well he is at shooting hoops, they know what they want. One fan remarked, “Usain to NBA 🙌😂” Watching the sprinter on the court would definitely be a treat. And it looks like another fan seemed to agree, “Top shooter 😂” Was this just a fluke, or can he really play ball?
In fact, even when he ran professionally, there was a time when all he wanted to do was play basketball and eat fast food. So, it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for Usain Bolt to take up a new career at this point. Maybe he could play a few games with his favorites as well. Wouldn’t that be a wonderful sight?
A fan exclaimed, “Gotta see how you hoop on the court now😂😂” Maybe this wasn’t proof enough that the G.O.A.T. has what it takes. However, another fan wasn’t sure of the prospect: “Can you become nba player at 40?” Quite a valid question. The phenom isn’t a sprightly young chicken anymore.

While Usain Bolt can talk the talk, can he truly walk the walk? He might be 38 now, but does age really play a factor in sports? Even though certain sports require athletes to retire fairly young, it doesn’t have to apply to basketball. Take Sue Bird, for example. She went on to win her fifth gold medal at the age of 40.
One fan confessed, “OUR🇯🇲GUY.A suh him VERSATILE” It’s no surprise that the sprinting legend has reigned over the track and field circuit with an iron fist. However, a fan couldn’t get over his shoutout for the NBA star, “Steff Curry 😂😂” Who could’ve guessed that he would take a liking to the sport?

Yet, leading up to the Paris Olympics, the 38-year-old had a message for Steph Curry and Team USA. He congratulated the squad on making it to the Olympic team and reiterated how he has always been a fan. In fact, because he has watched them for years, he even confessed how he knew they’d do great. Unsurprisingly, Team USA clinched their fifth consecutive gold at the French capital, and we’re sure Usain Bolt would’ve been ecstatic. But do you think he should try his hand in the NBA?
