Known for his mastery in the 400m, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics track and field gold medalist was in the news in the year 2023 for his on-the-track injury. The challenging conditions that he faced in the 2023 World Athletics Championship in Budapest, had led him to an immediate hospitalization back then. However, settling off his previous limitations, he has come back stronger and better, in the 2024 season, looking forward to repeating his glory of winning the Olympics.
The World Champion, Steven Gardiner could not survive the extreme heat conditions, a non-AC, and no ventilation environment, just 30 minutes before his event, which had resulted in the ordeal. Being escorted in a wheelchair then, he now wants to make sure that he does not lose on the multiple opportunities in the present year, which will head him to the 2024 Paris Olympics. And no doubt, Steven Gardiner’s recent win compliments his Paris race contention.

Sighting a single primary target this year, which is redoing his win as he did in the Tokyo Olympics back then, he announced, “The gold medal is the main goal. You know, to bring the medal home to the Bahamas once more and also to defend the title that I conquered in 2021, so I just want to do it all again.” Let us hope that he strikes the record with the same or maybe better conduct at the Paris Olympics this year.
