Gout Gout, who has been compared to the great Usain Bolt, is one of the most promising track and field athletes. Gout, who is renowned for his lightning-fast speed and unadulterated skill, recently established himself as a budding sprinting sensation with an amazing time of 10.04 seconds in a 100-meter heat at the 2024 Australian All Schools Athletics Championships in Brisbane. It was recently reported that Noah Lyles was training Gout.

Legendary sprinter Justin Gatlin focused attention on the development of the young athlete’s career as well as on the other facet of being a professional athlete, which is getting skills that will make him perform well under the conditions of competition. What does Gatlin have to say about Gout and his new training regimen?

Justin Gatlin reflects on Gout’s new training sessions

Recently, sprinter Justin Gatlin had a good conversation with Bahamian sprinter Rodney Green on the ‘Ready Set Go’ YouTube channel. Rodney Green says if the rumor about Gout Gout training with Noah Lyles and Lance Brauman is true, it could be an excellent opportunity for Gout to learn professionalism and grow as an athlete. However, it’s not a rumor anymore, as Gout’s manager James Templeton said, “We have the opportunity to go to Florida and join the training group of Noah Lyles and (coach) Lance Brauman.”

Green also highlighted how Noah’s journey is almost the same as Gout—Noah went there when he was a teenage star. In response, Justin Gatlin came in with a warning of what to do and what not to do. He said, “I agree with you 100%—that’s a really good move. You know, especially at the age he’s at right now, you don’t want to isolate him too much and put him in a bubble and say, Gout Gout, this is your world. You want him to understand what it is to be an Olympic gold medalist of 100 meters or a world champion of the 200 meters.”

Gatlin further added, “Train with people who have broken world records at a higher level; you know, um, to understand the psyche of how they train and their preparation.” Lyles also made headlines during the 2024 Paris Olympics with his stellar performance and won gold in the 100 m with a clock time of 9.79 seconds and 200 m bronze.

When any athlete gets trained under the legend of that sport, it is normal to learn a lot of things without even teaching. Gatlin also put his words, “Sometimes you’re going to be surprised; you might step up in that track and be like, ‘Man, they’re going to be so dedicated; they’re going to be so ready.'” Furthermore, Gatlin focused on the fact that sometimes athletes don’t even get to balance talent and dedication. He stated, “And we both know there’s a lot of athletes out there with immense talent, and their drive and their dedication are actually not even balanced.” If the title of next Usain Bolt is enough, Gout has got a big compliment from the legend himself.

Gout Gout got a big compliment from legend Usain Bolt

After Gout’s remarkable achievement, he was compared to Usain Bolt, even though many considered him the next Usain Bolt. Adding to the excitement, Bolt himself took to social media to praise the young athlete, remarking, “He looks like a young me.” With such high expectations, Gout’s decision to train alongside world champion Noah Lyles and the guidance of renowned coach Lance Brauman is being closely watched by the athletics community.
