In February, Tia Jones really made waves at the USATF Indoor Championships when she matched the world record in the 60m hurdles, clocking an amazing 7.67 seconds! Before the race, she emphasized how important it was for her to focus on her start and run a clean race if she wanted to have a shot at breaking the American record. And she absolutely nailed it! Following her race plan, she not only matched the world record but also set a new personal best. In her post-race interview, she said, “It was easier than I thought, just like the 7.72, which is why I know I can execute and go faster.” Just as she felt like she was achieving success and happiness, in life an unexpected injury suddenly disrupted everything.
Two hours later, after the race at the World Athletics Indoor Championships, Tia Jones sustained an injury. And thus she had to withdraw from the competition after colliding with the crash pads and tearing her ACL unexpectedly. Tia recently opened up about how that injury turned into a source of strength for her during an episode of “The Pregame Podcast” with Tokyo and Sydnee. It’s pretty inspiring to hear her perspective!

Just when things seemed to be settling down, Xavier Worthy had his own struggles. This summer, in July, he dealt with a hamstring injury that kept him out of most organized team activities and mandatory minicamp.

Nothing as serious as Tia’s ACL tear but still added pressure to recover swiftly and get back in the game strong like he did back in his college days at Texas, where he made some impressive stats with 97 receptions for 2755 yards and 26 touchdowns.
Back in October, Xavier Worthy and Tia Jones started an exciting new chapter when they bought their first home together in Kansas!
