For any star athlete, one of the dreams (or obligations, whichever way you look at it) is to give back to the community. The son of star athletes Kevin Lyles and Keisha Caine Bishop, Josephus Lyles considers now as good a time as any for philanthropy. For him and his Olympic gold medalist brother Noah Lyles, life is all about balancing their professional commitments with community outreach, through their foundation ‘The Lyles Brothers Sports Foundation’.

According to a post by ‘Track Spice’ on X (formerly Twitter), Josephus and Noah Lyles made significant contributions to young track-and-field athletes in Nigeria. The donations include canvas, spikes, and training kits for aspiring athletes in Nigeria. The kits were distributed via Nigerian athletic coaches Kayode Yaya and Osuagwu Chima, who run the HIT Athletics Club in Benin, Edo State, Nigeria.

This donation means so much to our young athletes. Josephus’ generosity provides not only equipment but inspiration and hope. He has shown them that their dreams are within reach and that their hard work is recognized, even from across the globe.“, said coach Yaya of the generous donation made by Josephus Lyles and his Olympian brother.

‘The Lyles Brothers Sports Foundation’ is a non-profit organization started by Josephus and Noah Lyles in 2020. The brothers started the foundation with the goal of helping young athletes, particularly those from deprived sections of society, with training mentorship and financial assistance to help forge their athletic careers.

“We know there are tons of kids out there and youths that are striving to achieve what me and my brother have done and just don’t have the resources.”, said Noah Lyles to Sky Sports in 2023. “We’ve always known that we wanted to give back to those communities, try to find those youth that can reach the top and give our insight, whether that’s with mental health, nutrition or even being physical – getting them into sports, introducing them to the right people.”, the Olympian continued.

The organization delves into initiatives like mental health awareness, college preparation, anti-bullying, and stress management. The brothers regularly hold events where they share their journey and the challenges they face in the athletic sphere.
