In this season, Shericka Jackson has already made herself stay away from two track and field Meets. In both Meets, the Jamaican athlete had to lock horns with the local talents to win the titles. It could be a delightful moment where Shericka Jackson would have showcased her sprinting prowess in front of her native audiences. With that, the local yet phenomenal talents would have rejoiced at the chance to enjoy the comparison with the reigning world champion.
However, in unavoidable circumstances, that couldn’t surface. But the Jamaican talents used the latest Queen’s/ Grace Meet as a perfect exercise ground before the possible tussle with Shericka in February. Meanwhile, the result came out as grand as ever. Shericka Jackson’s personal 60m sprinting record faced a tremor and another Meet record felt a disturbance.

January 27 bookmarked the whistle day for the Queen’s/Grace Jackson Meet in the National Stadium of Kingston. Just before the much-discussed 60m event in the Meet, Shericka Jackson decided to give a walk-over to fellow competitors. Among them, Shashalee Forbes grabbed the chance with folded hands. The X-handle of Owen M described the result in the caption of his X-post. It explained, “Out in Jamaica, Shashalee Forbes has just stormed to victory in the women’s 60m, clocking 7.03 seconds (+0.6) at the Queen’s/Grace Jackson Meet!”

That timing rocked several scripts in the track and field record book. On the first hand, the record registered itself as the Meet best, decimating 5x Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah’s timing 7.15, made last year. Moreover, Shashalee inscribed her name beside Shericka Jackson in the 60m as the latter has her best timing, equaling the 27-year-old Olympian. The 60m Meet on Saturday also stood a bystander in the raging form of Briana Williams and Tia Clayton. For Shericka Jackson, that might be a bit of a worrying situation.

However, Shericka Jackson has not announced her participation in these two tournaments yet. But Shashalee Forbes and Briana Williams are already eyeing the Millrose Games, starting in February in New York. Last year, the ‘fastest woman alive in 200m’ had taken part in the World Athletics Indoor Tour in Birmingham.

Shericka Jackson’s swashbuckling form helped her to clock a respectable 7.18 in the event’s final. But despite that, a fourth position was Shericka Jackson’s share. So on that note, this year might be a big chance for her to appear in the short course meets in February to prove her mettle. If that happens, the occasion would come out as the ultimate winner.
