Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce won the 2022 Kip Keino Classic after defeating a stacked line-up. She set a time of 10.67 to set the season’s best time in the 100-meters. In the meantime, Thompson-Herah has set her second-best time this season, and the race at the 2022 World Championships is heating up.
Elaine Thompson-Herah sets meet record
The Jamaican sprinter won the race in Puerto Rico after setting a time of 10.93 seconds, the best time in the meet. The second place went to Michelle-Lee Ahye, who finished in 11.06 seconds. But, the focus will be on the Jamaican as she is getting warmed up for the Championships. Earlier, she spoke about breaking Florence Griffith-Joyner’s record, and she aims to beat that in style.
The US sprinter set the world record back in 1988. She had a time of 10.49 that has stood for around 30 years now. Many athletes have tried to get close to this record, but the Jamaican sprinters are getting closer, day by day. After that world record time, Thompson-Herah sets the second-fastest time with 10.54. Fraser-Pryce ranked third with 10.60. Hence, the 2022 World Championships would be a great watch.

Thompson-Herah’s personal best this season is 10.89. Nowhere near her best, she looks to break Flo-Jo’s world record in the upcoming World Championships meet. In an interview, she spoke about her ambitions for the season.
“My main aim is to target for the World Championship. I really want to break the world record but I have to see where, when, how, I’m going to do that. That record was set when I wasn’t even born to see myself as a 30-year-old sprinter breaking Flo-Jo’s would be something very spectacular. That would be written all over in the history books, that cannot be erased,” said Thompson-Herah.
Thus, the history books are ready to be rewritten. Thompson-Herah and Fraser-Pryce are two of the best sprinters in the world. They will hope to smash the world record in Oregon.
