‘We just took what’s happened this whole season as learning experiences. Every race is an opportunity to learn from it and fix certain parts of my 200. So I think it all came together at the right moment,’ mentioned Steiner, who continues to impress.
She started the race perfectly and ran the curve at full speed. With the treacherous conditions, she pulled away from her competitors at the final stretch and raised her arms in jubilation. However, she won’t run at the World Championships this year since she missed the trials owing to an Achilles injury. In the meantime, as she is slowly making strides into the elite, it won’t be time when she displaces Sha’Carri Richardson as the next leading talent from the USA.

Both athletes are 22 and improving day by day. Recently, Richardson finished second behind Olympic gold medalist Elaine Thompson-Herah at the 2022 Prefontaine Classic. When one compares their times, Steiner is sitting comfortably. In the 100-meters, Richardson holds an edge on her times with a personal best of 10.72. On the other hand, Steiner’s personal best is 10.90, which is close behind.
However, in the 200-meters event, Steiner’s personal best is 21.80, while Richardson only managed 22.00. A difference of 0.20 seconds appears, compared to the 0.12 seconds in the 100-meters race. It shows how far Abby Steiner has come, and she looks like the real deal. Who do you think will lead the USA at the Olympics – Steiner or Richardson?
