US star sprinter Sha?Carri Richardson has finally opened her season a few days ago. And while the outcome wasn?t all that we expected, she certainly caught everyone?s attention with her performance in Florida.
And she did it in her very own bedazzled Nike kit.

Sha?Carri Richardson boasts new Nike Outfit
Richardson updated her Instagram with a picture from her season opener at Duval County Challenge. Here, we can see her walking beside Twanisha Terry, sporting similar outfits. But Richardson?s fit by her chief sponsor, Nike Inc., had some bling to it, lined with rhinestones. Of course, Richardson does everything extraordinarily, so her outfit needs to match the energy.
Sha?Carri Richardson, in the same race, saw an unexpected outcome. She competed in the American Track League at the Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. In her first run, she placed just off the podium in fourth, Aleia Hobbs bagging the victory.?
However, a few hours later, some athletes from the last heat turned around and re-ran the match on a flipped track. In the re-run, Richardson started performing more like herself, winning the race with a premature celebration. She improved on her time from the first race, changing the 11.37 to 11.27 seconds.
Still, her times were pretty far off her personal best of 10.72 seconds.
Richardson?s season ahead
This meet was her first time competing since last September, withdrawing from three of her scheduled meets this season. This included the Kip Keino Classic, where she was supposed to compete against rival Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. Up next for her is the 2022 Prefontaine Classic this Saturday, where she?ll be going up against Elaine Thompson-Herah, Dina Asher-Smith, and Shericka Jackson.

Richardson hasn?t competed against Thompson-Herah since the last issue of Prefontaine in 2021, held after the Olympics. Richardson won the US Olympic Trials with 10.84 in the final. However, she tested positive for marijuana, and the IOC banned her from competing in the Tokyo Olympics. At last year?s Prefontaine meet, Thompson-Herah set the second-fastest time ever with 10.54, while Richardson came in last.

This is the sprinter?s chance to redeem herself on the track. Recently, Justin Gatlin, a close friend and mentor for Richardson, stated that she has been running 10.3s in practice. Maybe this weekend we?ll see a change of pace from Richardson. Of course, as always, she?ll do it in style.
