Remember when MrBeast challenged Noah Lyles and IShowSpeed to a thrilling 50m contest? We’d already seen the 27-year-old best his foes by bagging the 100m Olympic gold in Paris. So, this unlikely matchup left the track and field community stunned. However, many expected the sprinter to emerge victorious, which he did. Yet the race turned out to be much more intense and closer than fans expected it to be.
In fact, Speed nearly triumphed over Lyles. This seems to have boosted the YouTuber’s confidence, and he looked to redeem himself on the track. Although this won’t be just any race, the 19-year-old now has his sights on the upcoming 2028 LA Olympics. Ambitious? Maybe. However, the YouTuber believed he had all the makings of an Olympic-level sprinter and revisited this desire on a recent podcast. This caught the Olympic 100m champion’s attention, and he didn’t hold back.

On November 29, the 19-year-old appeared for a casual sit-down interview with Shannon Sharpe on his podcast, Club Shay Shay. The 19-year-old was asked if he would like a rematch, and Speed promptly agreed. He stated that he would have beaten the Olympian if they raced the 50m event again that night. Speed further exclaimed that he could even be an Olympic sprinter. However, Noah Lyles thought otherwise. He shut the claim down with Thanos’ infamous line from Avengers: Endgame, “You couldn’t live with your own failure, where did that bring you? back to me.”

Shannon Sharpe couldn’t get past the YouTuber’s bold Olympics claim and asked him if he would train for the Games. However, the 19-year-old reiterated that he had three years to prepare. He added that he would only need one full year of training because he had the speed. All he lacked was the technique. “I almost beat Noah Lyles with no technique,” he exclaimed. According to the 19-year-old, he believed that he was faster than the Olympian.
Eventually, the conversation moved on to Noah Lyles’ next challenger, Tyreek Hill. Sharpe asked Speed if the upcoming race would be closer than if it was a 40m dash instead. Speed took a dig at the 27-year-old, stating that the Olympian is not fast in that distance. So, it could be close. Speed went as far as to say, “When it first starts, he’s slow as s***.” The YouTuber believed Tyreek might have an advantage in a 40m dash. But if it’s anything above 50, the sprinter would emerge victorious. However, this wouldn’t be the first time the Olympian has taken a dig at the streamer. What did he say?
The 27-year-old let Speed know who the real champion is
After a tumultuous stint at the French capital, the Olympic 100m champion drew the curtains on his track season. Instead, he was recently spotted rubbing shoulders with the who’s who at the Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix 2024. He had never visited the Las Vegas Circuit Strip before and was enthralled by watching the F1 cars whiz right past him.

Bear in mind that the sprinter clinched his maiden Olympic gold with 9.784 seconds on the clock. But when he came face to face with the fast cars in the Ferrari garage, he couldn’t help but compare himself to it. Noah Lyles documented his thrilling outing on Instagram with a few images of the Ferraris, captioned, “Speed meets Speed.” Could this have been a subtle dig towards their recent encounter?
