Joe Rogan calls Richardson’s ban horses***

Spotify is one of the world’s biggest audio streaming platforms. It provides various forms of audio content, including podcasts. And, the ‘Joe Rogan Experience’ is its top-billed podcast. In one of his episodes featuring comedian Brian Simpson, Joe opined on the one-month ban on Richardson. She was handed the ban due to substance abuse after Richardson admitted to smoking marijuana.

A hundred percent horses***,” said Rogan. “First of all, I think the Olympics are disgusting because that lady should be getting paid millions of dollars,” he added.

Joe made a case for all the athletes taking part in the Olympics; saying that they are the ones generating the viewership. “No one’s watching the Olympics cause it’s the Olympics, they’re watching the Olympics cause you see the best athletes in the world. It is one of the dirtiest sport,” Rogan said.

He also said that instead of the networks and the IOC and all other people making heaps of dollars, the athletes should be the ones making money. Rogan called it a “disgusting, corrupt system.”

Joe stays firm on his opinion

The ‘podcast king’ remains a staunch believer in the “corporate” nature of the Olympics. He says that the Olympics is just a business-oriented event and the athletes never get the pay they deserve.

He has often spoken about how companies make billions off of athletes and thinks that they should all just quit. “I really wish they would say f*** you, pay me.”

To put this into perspective, the revenue generated by the Olympics from 2013 to 2016 was $5.7billion. Meanwhile, as per a report, US athletes get $37,500 for every gold, $22,500 for every silver, and $15000 for every bronze medal they win at the Olympics. The World’s Fastest Man, Usain Bolt, earned $33million in all of 2016. A large part of his earnings came from his sponsorship deals.

If Bolt earned that much, one can only wonder what the earnings of those athletes would be who did not win any medals.
