Amid this emotional moment, Track and Spice posted a photo of the athlete on Twitter with the caption, “Sha’carri Richardson in tears at the podium during an emotional moment receiving the medal.” In the photo, teary-eyed Richardson was seen holding a flower bouquet in her hands while proudly wearing the well-deserved gold medal around her neck.

The 100-meter win was an exceptional one in many ways for the Sha’Carri. The 22-year-old LSU star, after being banned from the Big games and not winning any championship since 2017, wanted to showcase to the world her utmost potential in her 2023 comeback. And after winning the USATF championship and this 100-meter race Richardson silenced everyone questioning her capabilities.

After her win at the World Athletics Championship, Sha’Carri Richardson shut down the rumors of a rivalry against Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. In an interview alongside Shericka Jackson and Fraser-Pryce, the newly crowned world champion told the media, “I just want to say she is an amazing athlete.” Richardson, who in a hilarious confession admitted to growing up watching Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce on the tracks while talking about competing against the athlete, added, “It was going to take my best to come forward and be able to compete.”
