In the world of track and field, Usain Bolt is a force to be reckoned with. The athlete who bid farewell to competitive athletics in 2017 remains the world’s fastest man in 200m track after finishing the race in 19.19 seconds. However, interestingly, apart from Track and field recently, Lightning Bolt’s first love has been revealed on social media.

On Monday, a sport came back to the Olympic arena after more than one and a quarter century. Amid this update, a few pictures of Usain Bolt have resurfaced on the Internet. The pictures of Lightning Bolt showcasing his support for the sport left the track and field community in a frenzy.

First love is special after all

Recently, a few intriguing pictures of Usain Bolt captioned “Cricket was my first love after all” have resurfaced on X. In the photos, the world’s fastest man was spotted playing cricket with the Australian team. The athlete was captured discussing with the staunch players of the team, including Glenn Maxwell, and also did his iconic lightning victory pose with the athletes.

Bolt began his sports journey with cricket. The athlete who grew up watching Waqar Younis strike his magic on the ground would run fast while training and was suggested to try track and field. Lastly, the athlete’s father, despite being a fan of the game, told the sprinter to take up athletics “because of the system in Jamaica.” Interestingly, now this tweet has resurfaced as cricket has been reintroduced to the Big Games after 128 years. The sport will be part of a five-sport package, including squash, flag football, baseball, and lacrosse.

Cricket to infuse “electric” charm into the Olympics?

After the vote conducted by the International Olympic Committee on October 17, cricket was reintroduced as part of the 2028 Olympics held in Los Angeles. In the competition, both male and female athletes will be participating in a six-team tournament. According to the Los Angeles Olympics committee, the sport’s return to the Olympics is amid the growing fame of the T20 format of the game. In an interview, Los Angeles Organising Committee Chairperson Casey Wasserman stated, “I have been to IPL. It was electric. And we want to recreate that environment.”

In essence, despite not making a career in Cricket, Usain Bolt has always shown his appreciation for the sport. The Bolt enthusiasts are now girded up to see the sprinter enjoy the Los Angeles Olympics as staunch cricketers strike their magic on the field.
