Track and field athletes’ fight against the new US sports policy continues. According to this policy, the track and field championship will not be shown live on NBC TV but on pay-per-view platforms, including CNC and USATF TV. This policy has stirred up trouble for the sports agency since top athletes such as Sha’Carri Richardson and Michael Johnson have called out the media for it. According to these athletes, the sports media is trying to focus solely on their profits rather than on track and field

However, this fight has evolved beyond policy, as athletes have begun to fight against low pay and unethical treatment by the corporation. Today, Richardson posted another tweet about the athletes’ treatment. The runner compares the track and field community to other famous sports in the United States and the lack of support provided to them.

On June 13, Sha?Carri Richardson posted another tweet against USATF, stating “Track and Field is not like other sports especially in America. The NBA and NFL have organizations to HELP their athletes, not exploit them. Y’all have no idea how many track athletes don’t even have a base salary; there are some athletes that literally sign contracts for CLOTHES!” highlighting how the other sports of America have better facilities and support from the team while Track and field struggle with basic demands like salary.

The fight for a lower salary started after Joey Chestnut won $100,000 after competing in his 16th hot dog-eating championship by eating 62 of them. And, paralympic track and field athlete Hunter Woodhall took a jab at the corporation. as the athlete reminded people that one could get more pay for participating in a hot dog championship than a track and field championship.

Later, Sha’Carri Richardson also highlighted the poor treatment in track and field as she compared the pay of the track and field championship winner, who just got $8000, to Joey Chestnut?s money. Richardson plays a huge role in this fight, and the athlete plans to continue this fight to prove the importance of Track and Field players.
