Noah Lyles is on a mission to be the global icon in the track and field world. He wants to occupy every record in the sport, which makes Usain Bolt’s record time of 19.19 in the 200 meters his ultimate target. Lyles has inspired confidence in his ability to become the fastest man alive by consistently winning every 200-meter race in the last two years. While his supporters only took notice of him in recent years, one brand has stood by him for a long time.

Ever since Usain Bolt retired from the track, Adidas placed all their bets on Noah Lyles. The star sprinter did not disappoint and has lived up to the brand’s expectations. He shone at the 2023 World Athletics Championships and created history by breaking Bolt’s long-standing world record. Naturally, Adidas could not let go of this moment and celebrated it with an iconic tribute to the legendary athlete.

Noah Lyles won both the 100-meter and the 200-meter races in the World Athletics Championships held in Budapest. The last person to achieve such a feat was Usain Bolt in 2015. After the races, Lyles spoke to the media joyously proclaiming, “I wanted to show I am different. I came out and showed it. I am double champion”. The 26-year-old was fueled by an “unlimited charge” going into the 400x100m relay finals, where he earned his third gold medal. Adidas mounted a special digital campaign in his honor outside their flagship store in New York City. Joe Hale, a freelance photographer from the city, captured the campaign and posted it on X with the caption, “@LylesNoah digital display outside adidas NYC Flagship”. Noah Lyles isn’t the only athlete that the billion-dollar company has celebrated in such a grand manner.

Since July 2023, the Adidas NYC flagship store has also put up a picture of the soccer hero Lionel Messi. Alongside the photo are the words, “Impossible Is Nothing,” which has been the soccer legend’s slogan throughout his career. With this, Noah Lyles has achieved a significant milestone in his career, joining the ranks of global icons in sports. For Lyles, this is just another stepping stone towards an ultimate goal in life.

About his medal-winning feat at the World Athletics Championships, the double champion said, “Medals are the first step, because then people pay attention to you”. In that bent of thought, Lyles even went on to diss the NBA for enjoying a superior public appeal than track and field. Since then, he has faced backlash from all corners of the country. Prominent NBA players such as Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Aaron Gordon, Damian Lillard and others called him out on social media. They mocked Noah Lyles for his comment while the fans charged him with chasing after the NBA’s clout. But, Adidas did not abandon him and came out in support of him. Through their digital campaign, they have tried to remind the country of Noah Lyles’ incredible achievements and the impact he has had on the world of track and field.
