As already known to all, if sportsmanship runs in the blood, nothing comes in the way. Such is the case of Talitha Diggs, who was nurtured by her Olympian mother Joetta Clark. In the realm of track and field, even one-hundredth of a second can make a huge difference. But if trained from an early age by none other than the mother, the athletes consider themselves fortunate. Diggs’ recent Millrose Games performance resonated with exactly that.

At the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold series, at the 300m dash, the worthiest debutant made headlines. Days of hard work came to fruition as she finished on top. But most importantly, her bloodline needs a laud. After the conclusion, a teary-eyed mother, who won at the same in 1977, penned a heartfelt note for her winning child on social media.

Making history as the first mother-daughter duo to conquer this event, alongside my sister Hazel as the first sisters to win”. Because of their 800m dominance, sisters Hazel and Joetta Clark and sister-in-law Jearl Miles Clark became the ‘First Family of Track & Field’. Coached by brother J.J Clark, the sisters were inclined towards the indoor events, which culminated when Clark Diggs got inducted into Inducted into Millrose Games Hall of Fame in 2002.

From 1979 to 2000, the Olympian never missed a single USA track outdoor event or the Olympic Trials. But seeing her daughter carry forward the family legacy was pleasing on a different level. Speaking of daughter Diggs, her resume is also shining brightly alongside her mother’s.
