On October 25, Track Spice posted an update on X. According to the tweet, “World U20 200m bronze medalist and Jamaican star Alana Reid is set to become a training partner of 200m World Champion Sha’Carri Richardson under Dennis Mitchell at the Florida-based Star Athletics Track Club.” The 18-year-old athlete will join Richardson and many other U.S. athletes, including Twanisha Terry, Kyree King, and Marvin Bracy-Williams, to train under Mitchell at Star Athletics Club.

This news comes after Alana Reid, who signed a multi-year deal with Nike in June, revealed that she would still train under coach Corey Bennett. However, after a few months, the athletics star from Jamaica decided to leave the guidance of his high school coach, Bennett, and train on foreign soil. Reid is currently one of the brightest young talents from Jamaica. Recently, the athlete surpassed an Olympic champion on the 100-meter tracks in Kingston, Jamaica making a name for herself.

At the 2023 JAAA All-Comers meet, Alana Reid clinched a gold medal. The 18-year-old athlete with an electrifying performance finished the race in 11.16, while 2021 Tokyo Olympics 100m relay champion Briana Williams had to settle for the second position after finishing the race in 11.20.
Apart from this win in March 2023, Reid also secured her under-20 world record. The guidance of Corey Bennett helped the track and field athlete set a new personal best of 10.92 at the Girls Champs.
