Olympic medalist Gabrielle “Gabby” Thomas has a long list of accolades that can make every track and field fan marvel at her achievements. However, that doesn’t walk over Thomas’ dreams of helping the community with her education and skills. As the 2024 Paris Olympic Games knocks on the door, the former Harvard student is hard at work to get on top of her game. But at the same time, she’s focused on completing her education to give back to her community.
In a recent social media post, Thomas talks about her journey and which role model she looks up to. Gabby also shares insights about how her professional was given a jump start at an unforeseen event.

In her latest Instagram post, hybrid athlete Katherine Kalill can be seen sharing a run and a chat with the Olympic bronze medalist Gabby Thomas. The track and field athlete keeps a broad smile on her face as she patiently answers everything. Thomas reveals how she’s always been fast as she played more than one sport as a young one. She also revealed that her career on the track started after she was scouted on the soccer field.

While her high school coach recruited Thomas, thanks to her speed with the ball, the 2023 World Championships gold medalist did try her hands with gymnastics, horse riding, and more before moving on to her current pastures. Gabby Thomas also revealed who she looks up to when it comes to inspiring herself.
Thomas mentioned the iconic Coco Gauff as her inspiration when Kalill asked about her female role models. Thomas said, “She was just named the highest-paid female athlete…she is so relatable and down-the-earth…I also just love that she dominates a white-dominated sport as a black woman…she does it with such grace…young girls can look up to her as a role model and just believe in themselves.” Interestingly, Thomas is equally good on academic tracks.

Olympic champion’s plans outside the tracks
While Gabby shared a lot of insider information on her extensive schedule and her life as a track and field athlete, she also shared her plans for what she wants to do in the future. Along with being a significant force in the sport, Thomas is also a brilliant student pursuing her studies at the University of Texas after graduating from Harvard.

Thomas recently received a master’s degree in epidemiology and has plans to work in the healthcare sector to help more people in need of better care to avail of the required services. She said working in the domain helps to keep her mind off track.
